Hey guys,

I'm ready to buy a new phone, and really really like Sony Ericsson's phones. Was really interested in the Xperia X10 Mini Pro but talked to a sales person at Vodafone who told me they had seen quite a few problems with them. Things such as the accelerometer failing and some apps not working correctly. Can anyone confirm this? Also, does anyone have any suggestions for other phones of similar features and price?

Appreciate any help!

Looking at the talkischeap website... It looks like it's run by Telegistics. Interesting as the site offers "new, nearly new and used handsets".

Lol,
"At the beginning of the 2010 we diversified a little and began to also operate as a nearly new mobile phone outlet. All of the product that we sell are sourced directly from Telecom and are authentic XT handsets."

Bold was mine...

edit: "The phones we sell, unless otherwise stated, have not been repaired. They are customer returns under the consumer guarantees act, we have selected the best of these returns to bring you quality 2nds that look brand new and are functioning properly.

So... some fixed written-off phones re-released? Some not fit for purpose? And Telecom resets the IMEI?

Lots of giveaway phones through telecom at the mo for getting a contract.

I grabbed a htc sensation, although that may be more than you require if you were looking at that se phone.

I have been looking at the Samsung Galaxy Mini today, seems pretty nice. Anyone have anything to say about this phone? Have heard that the battery life sucks... :/

Whatever you get, don't get a QVGA android phone. You'll miss out on heaps of apps.

Yeah, get a 'mainstream' android phone.

Get an older HTC desire over an x10. Or HD2 and put android on it (or WP7).

Well if you want to go the android route and looking for something within the galaxy mini price range, then I would rather go for the LG Optimus One P500. Cheaper and better because it runs the vanilla version of android so no bloatware or crapware loaded.

Wp7 is good and the update is near which will make it very good.

Don't get an obscure android phone.

Anything HTC
Samsung galaxy s or sII only
Moto milestone 2
New songs are ok, but dear

Get a second hand nexus or desire over the 'smaller' new phones. Trust me youll regret it.

All wp7 phones are pretty solid.

The Xperia Mini Pro (X20?, not the X10) has just been released.. You might look at parallel importing that if you liked the X10 MP form factor.. (Should be cheap too.. <$400NZ)
