IDC's second quarter results are out and the biggest smartphone share gain is Samsung's 380%, followed by HTC's 166%, then Apple's 142%.

Apple took the lead from its previous second spot, with Nokia's plummeting share helping elevate the brand, and it has 19.1% market share.

However, that's a rather temporary win since Samsung's spectacular growth to 16.2% means it'll handily surpass Apple's market share in the third quarter as predicted by IDC in their previous quarterly update. Third spot sees Nokia with 15.7% but trending down. RIM grew 11% to hold 11.6% market share while HTC has fifth spot on 11%.

With Samsung growing at such a clip, it's readily apparent why Apple is resorting to litigation to keep its biggest competitor at bay. If you take that view, of course... Wink

That is all, and now back to our regularly scheduled programme.

Galaxy S has gone to its new owner. HTC Sensation has gone to its new
owner. Galaxy S3 has gone to its new owner. Now using Galaxy Note 3. Skipping Note 4 I think...

Good news, though when you make phones like my S2 here (shameless bragging!) it isn't surprising!

Just hurry up and get me the details on the pricing of the 10.1 Tab, damn it. Wanted an e-reader but a tablet gets me access to every competing e-reader store anyway, as well as being more functional.

Speaking of the tab, got any idea on possible pricing? Probably look at the 16gb wifi/3G.

All this and the SGS 2 isn't even available in the US.

With Apple suing everybody on the planet, the SGS2 may never launch in the US... Laughing

So good thing sales are strong elsewhere.
