I was wondering your thoughts on the best keyboard for android phones. I see there's three main ones swype slideit and swiftkey x. Has anyone tried any of these and which do you find is fastest to type on.

Comes down to personal preference, you've listed the best 3 there imo.

Personally I use Swype.

Have a search through the android threads there are already a few discussions on the merits of the keyboards. I also prefer swype

I bought Swiftkey X after trialing it, I really like it as remembers phrases and learns from the way I write emails, texts, and tweets to guess the most likely next word you will use based on historic usage.

I have used the slide ones and they are pretty good and quick but I still had to do the whole word. I liked the sentence prediction on swiftkey better as I am a creature of habit and can often write a whole text by selecting the correctly guessed next word.

Slide keyboards are good if you have fat fingers or use your thumb as you only have to be in the general vacinity of the right key for it to inlude it in the predicted word.

Swype

There's a beta out for TouchPal which is nearly the same as swype, but has earlier prediction... Tried it, (meh), but prediction-lovers might like it.

Have tried all three. Currently use SlideIT but each have their merits. Swype was a beta - invite only app when I tried it and haven't gone back to it. Swype is still loaded on my phone, it is just I have become used to SlideIT. Apps such as 8pen and graffiti are fun for the novelty value but not for serious input.

SwiftKey X here. The next word prediction can be awesome and I find the arrow keys for cursor nav useful. Thumbs up for long key press for symbols/numbers (same for Swype).

+1 Swype. Mainly because thats what came with my LG P500 (My first android). I have tried the others but keep coming back to Swype because it is what I am familiar with. It doesn't get it wrong very often and when it does it is just a matter of tapping the correct word or tapping out the spelling of an unknown word then adding it to the dictionary.
