Hi all,

Issue: Coverage dropping in and out constantly. Ever other minute it'll go from 5 bars to 1 to 3 to 0 to 2 to 0 etc. It looks like it's going in between 3G and 2G meanwhile other 2degrees phones in the house will constantly be on a good 3-4 bars (2g and 3g).

Which radio should be on the i9000 for best coverage of 2Degrees (and I guess VF)? I currently have I9000XXJVK after following this guide: http://www.theandroidsoul.com/galaxy-s-miui-rom/ which didn't occur to me as I was doing it if I was the best for my phone.

Is it possible just to change the radio/baseband without reinstalling the rom? I'm going with yes, but just checking.

Got a Galaxy i9000 in the boxing day sales and am loving it. I had a look at a few differnt roms (Cyanogen, Darky and MIUI) and coming from having an iPhone (old school first gen) I've found MIUI to be the most awesome looking Rom I've seen! Loving it.

I have installed MIUI Mintberry Edition rom before and I was using JVT radio. Yes it is possible to install/flash the radio/baseband via recovery, have a look at the following link for a range of different radios that can be flashed to MIUI or CM7 based ROMs only.

Hmmm tried that link and http://dl.dropbox.com/u/27404740/Modem_BUJV3-CWM3.zip. and both failed saying "unknown baseband" in MIUI. Flashing JVT has seemed to get it working again though. I actually get good reception on 2g (full bars) but JVT still seems quite flacky on 3G. Unless I'm misunderstanding something here the varience in basebands are more tuned for setups in different countries/networks or? I just find it strange how I'll be looking at my phone and it'll go from 85dBm to 110dBm and in between there. I'm just slightly surprised at it not being a constant reliable signal. It's strange because a friend also bought this phone a week before me and had been complaining about 2degrees 3G reception issues just on stock rom/radio. Anyhow...
