Hi guys need some opinions please.  I am looking to get a tablet but getting a bit frustrated with lack mof options for what I am after.

Basically I have a SGS2 but also company phone (nokia C5) so awkward carting 2 phones, I would like to have a tab so when out of town I have access to web for news browsing and also forums so don't see need to having SGS2.

I need 3g xt compatibly as I'm at my mothers place a bit and she has no broadband and I'm not interested in tethering also ability to use external memory (not a space hog but like flexibility to do this). Minimum dual core 1ghz with ability to play HD 1080.  Screen size down to 7"

Thought it was a simple task and liked the Samsung Tab 10.1 but no external storage.

Enter the Asus transformer (including prime) as read good write ups on here, no 3G.

ok so next is Acer Iconia possibly A501, ticks all of the boxes except the one I saw reviewed wasn't able to use XT but that maybe just to do with site I was on.

Anyway I must be getting too picky but can't understand why you would have Tablet that doesn't have option with 3G nor one without ext memory regardless of how much is in there.
oh last requirement is to have updates and support on android development as I will be flashing upgrades.

Any thoughts

Thanks in advance

lack of micro sd is made up for somewhat with usb host mode (external hdd or usb memory stick)

Have used A501 on XT, if you get one from Harvey Norman they'll give you a SIM with 100mb

The Galaxy Tab 7.7 could be the one you need, although I'm not sure which frequencies the 3G one runs on. It's got nearly every you want otherwise (except of course impossible to say what kind of support/updates it will get, it is scheduled for ICS but not particular timeframe on that).

thanks some good points and the ext memory maybe just a silly point. Thanks Nztechfreak was reading your reviews and threads. I really do like the asus but the 3g is a must have. If I went with ext memory then it opens up a lot so next would be the ability to upgrade and I know Samsung ios slow on this but know nothing about Acer.

Lenovo popped up as well but need to do soem reading on that.
The A501 is really nice to use but the Samsung tab looks so good and is very responsive

I would recommend you Motorola Xoom 3G 32GB 10.1. It seems have all you want, 3G, msd slot, usb, runs honeycomb 3.2, good interface and is quite responsive.  The screen is good, not as bright as Samsung.  I got one a month ago. Now Motorola Xoom 2 32GB 3G is on the market, it is lighter, faster but more expensive.

You can get more info on http://www.mobicity.co.nz/motorola-xoom-2-10-1-32gb-3g.html   http://www.mobicity.co.nz/motorola-xoom-3g.html

Tablets without External memory slots should still be upgradeable.

Thanks listudio hadn't thought of them and looking at specs they are very good. Thought I was limited but obviously not looking hard enough.

You are right kiwijunglist as when I look at my sgs2 I have hardly used half of internal storage let alone the 16gb external so maybe I'm being narrow minded on this.

I bought a Lenovo dual-core 1GHz, 1GB RAM, 10" screen, 32GB internal storage (+16GB microSD I also inserted) WiFi-only "IdeaPad" (for C$349) and I tether it to my LG Optimus 3D  (P925G - Telecom XT flavour). I only wanted one 3G device....and the tablet was much cheaper if wifi only.

Seen you already have a Galaxy S2 I'm assuming you have some kind of a data add on?

That been the case 3G isn't really needed on a tablet as you could just tether it to your cell phone, I do this with my laptop when I'm away from home.

Thansk yes I could do that but was thinking to get rid of SGS2 as I have a work phone albeit not android. Although I do like my phone and it is useful as in GPS and I wouldn't be carrying tablet around so may have to rethink everything as the storage isn't that big a deal nor 3G as some have suggested.
