Did you have to pay anything extra for it?

One questions would be should I keep using my Smart Modem or is the Fritzbox better ?  Where can I get info on this modem (7490 ?).

the spark smart modem is as good as (or slightly better than) the 7490 - so probably better than the 7530 they will give you

Had to ring 2Degrees this week to find out what was happening with the changeover. Seems they screwed something up and we would have been waiting forever. Murphy must work there! The warm fuzzies have already disappeared.

Got texted today to say the changeover was happening today. That sure put my BP up - getting a critical service changed over on Christmas Eve.

Got a text to say to switch over the modem. Some nervous minutes - seemed to take ages to boot up. Once up, the net was back and the phone seemed to work. Really glad about that.

However, we do have an issue.

We have a base station plugged into the router with wireless cordless phones (x2) in other areas of the house. When the phone rings, ONLY the base station phones rings - NOT the other two. Why?? They all rang in the past. Is this a phone issue (Uniden 3 phone setup with base station answering 5.8Ghz). Can we make the other phones ring like they used to? Do we have to upgrade the phones (they aren't that old - some years though).

Can we change the ringtone?

I have had a quick look at the user interface of the router, but I can't see any settings that change ringtone, or ringing.

Update: Now our phone number has gone down and we can't ring out!

your landline is no longer copper, only the phone plugged into the 2degrees modem will ring - unless you integrate your house wiring so the other phones are connected to the fritz, this will, however cause REN issues because the REN output on the fritz is limited

The REN limit may be the deal breaker for me.  I have two separate cordless phones connected plus a few other sockets which I might connect    normal phones to.  How do you count REN figures, should the cordless base stations have a REN number ?

What is the limit of the Fritzbox ?

Looks at the Telepermit stickers on each phone and add them up
A NEAX copper line has 5 REN output an RGW like a fritz varies from 1-2 REN depending on model
your total load on the line cant exceed the lines REN output

If the base station rings and the other cordless phones don't it is a cordless phone issue. Are the other phones charged and in range? The ringing pattern is usually a menu choice in the cordless phone.

Gutless ATAs favour cordless phones because the cordless just uses the ringing to trigger its own locally powered sound.

I have a base station with two cordless phones. The phones ring fine. Cordless phones have their own power supply, it should be up to the base station to make them ring, don’t see how Wireless phones would be drawing REN. Base station is plugged into it’s own power supply as well.

Is the ring volume up on them, and are they paired to base station and charged. I can change my handset ring volume, mines a Panasonic.

Yes...the cordless phones are plugged in to their charging cradles and are fully charged. All the phones rang when plugged into the copper network without issue.

Now that the base station phone is plugged into the router (using VOIP), only the base station phone rings. There are not any settings in the phone menu to change anything that I can see. I can change the ringer sound there though.

This is a 3 phone set (DSS8955+2NZ)- two wireless phones that connect back to the base station. The base station says RN=1 on the tele-permit. I also figure it should be up to the base station to make them ring, but since switching to VOIP they don't!

Perhaps I should update them to DECT phones that somehow connect to the router?? I don't know much about all this tech.

One last question. I notice in the router interface that is says...

"FRITZ!Box 7530

FRITZ!OS 07.13, The FRITZ!OS is not up to date. Update?"

Should I update the firmware?

Hi, just checking the other cordless phones, did they connect to the wired phone network as well, ie do they have a phone cord out the back of the cradle or are they infact dect wireless extentions of the main base.

If they are dect wireless extentions then they should ring just as they used to, but if the other extention cradles are infact base stations with a phone cord connecting them to the house phone wiring then they are stand alone and you will need to have your house wiring integrated to allow for reticulation from the router not from the street.

If wiring is integrated from the router remember to disconnect the wiring from the demarc.
