Hi - this sounds annoying for non Edge users - on a Mac and use good old Safari.

But I use Authenticator for quite a few apps and sites right now.

Is anyone else starting to feel mildly anxious?? 😬

What are others doing that don’t plan to use Edge re this?

Looks like if you google “copying ms authenticator to keychain”, you get an AI answer plus the first hits are from MS website…

I’m guessing follow your nose with that info…

I use Authenticator on two IOS devices for 2FA

i use safari mostly and sometimes chrome…. They either save the credientials or I use last pass or I use key chain. (I’m nearly finished moving credientials out of the browsers…..it’s only mundane login stuff left e.g. not important websites.

I don't know that the issue is, as I don't use MS authenticator.

I would assume most of us don't rely on browser based solutions. Have you looked at migrating to something like Bitwarden which provide authenticator and password management across multiple browsers and devices?

As above, isn't it only the password manager feature of Microsoft Authenticator that's moving to edge? Shouldn't be too difficult to move passwords to Bitwarden, etc, surely?

People often mistake me for an adult because of my age.

Worst case scenario, reset your password for those you've only stored to this, as needed?

Worth noting Authenticator also isn’t “backed up”. This means if the app/phone is wiped you can lose access to accounts if you haven’t got the recovery codes.

Happened to me a couple of years ago, so I bought/paid for 1Password…

Hmm, on my Authenticator app (iOS) I have it set to backup to iCloud. And I think I've used this in the past on another device.

Looks like it might be different for Android as it looks like it backs up one-time passwords.

I only use Authenticator for MS MFA. Passwords have been in 1Password for 10+ years, and all other MFA codes come from my Authy app. I made the call long ago to only use MS Authenticator for work/Microsoft specific stuff.

This is quickly apparent especially on iPhones where upgrading from one to another results in the new phone being a direct clone of the old, except for the Authenticator app. If you add a personal (not work or school) Microsoft account to it you can set that as your back up, then on the new phone restore from it.
