I use Openvix for freeview with an old Sky Dish with Dual throat LNB..
How do I configure my Openvix for moving to 156? I have tried below, doesn't pick up any signals from 156?
The Satellite name/slot in decoder settings is just a bookmark. Where you can store channels against it. It doesn't magically make you receive more by changing to it.
It still comes down the alignment, position of the dish and LNB settings. You could change it a name of something from the other side of the world and scan, and it would still find the same stuff unless it's aligned for the 2nd.
See the lyngsat link. Nothing but Foxtel on it and 2 test streams for aligning it currently. The important bits are there. 12707. Horizontal. The rest is where is is pointing.

I have a the same set up on my Vu+ Solo2 potentially you should be able to run a scan including that Sat and see what's there.
I'm going to try mine tonight as I wasn't aware of this either. think 156° was already set up in my box.
I just have std shy dish and dual LNB but only 1 feed cable.
fingers crossed
Shoes2468: Interesting, I got the email, try channel 888 didn’t work at home.
However we often take our decoder camping with a mobile dish. Thought I would give the 888 channel a go, no signal. As I’m sure Sky are not going to fix this, what will I need to do to keep using sky while camping?
sky are fixing this, did you get an emails asking you to submit the result of the test?
id be giving them a call…they are currently booking in jobs to replace the dish/lnb’s for those who didn’t get a “hello” when choosing channel 888.
as for your portable dish, you will need to suss out which lnb you can buy to replace it yourself.
edit, the only reason they would swap the dish is because the new LNBs they have procured don’t use the same mount points so thus they need to also swap out the dish.

Wouldn't it make more sense to just point at 156E rather than 160E when the time comes.

Yeap, pretty sure channel 888 is broadcast from the alternate satellite that sky setup just in case of this exact scenario.
The survey will be sky figuring out if they need to send a tech out to repoint the dish/update you to a dual throat (aka dual satellite) LNB.
If you can get ch 888 on your existing dish, presumably you are already setup and switch over will be seamless.
If you have a mobile setup, you will simply point 4 deg left of usual and might need to do a re tune.

I did a scan on my Vu+ solo2 OpenVix got a few channels in a list but cant view any as are encrypted
I just did a rescan and only get the Sky welcome signal
So far it's not going well...
19 Nov - email from Sky advising they are going to do an overnight test for Ch888.
26 Nov - email from Sky advising the overnight test was unsuccessful.
29 Nov - email from Sky saying they did some background stuff and it's all good now.
4 Dec - I log call with Sky as neither of my decoders sees anything on Ch888.
7 Dec - still waiting for a reply but I imagine I'm not the only one.

Does your decoder say "channel not available" or does it go to 888 and say "no satellite signal"??

Does your dish have an Dual throat or quad (dual throat as well) lnb like any of these? it needs to have either. If its a single throat lnb, it cant look at the other satellite. Also, do you have and amp or muti-switch in your system? This will stop the decoder from sending 13 volts to the lnb to switch throats as a multi-swich feed 18 volts to the dish.
I use the Sky dish for Freeview only. I think I replaced the LNB with a single years ago. I don't remember for certain. I am elderly and less inclined to fritz around with the dish and I wonder if I can get enough signal from that satellite by just angling the LNB. I do get Intelsat 19 this way and I think D1. Can anyone clarify?
Plesse igmore amd axxept applogies in adbance fir anu typos
D1 went to heaven I think. Freeview/Sky currently on D2 @ 160E with services shifting to D3/10 @ 156E before D2 expiration in May.
