So you dont lose - at least at this speculative stage.

End of the day its just a 6 week event, whats more this issue is what then? Does Sky also lose this years end of year AB's tour? Is there a desire to take rugby into the FTA domain, or at least run by TVNZ/Spark? Sky without rugby how will that go? All speculative off course

No UHF terrestrial either. I can get Freeview satellite but that's not HD. No spark mobile coverage either. I do get stable Vodafone coverage in most areas.
That would be a lot of data to purchase :)

But as you say this is all speculation at this point.
And I'm sure I'll find away to see the games, I want to see one way or another.

Well, that's simple. A Sky subscription used to include live access to all RWC games. Now it doesn't.

Or, kinda like watching Sky up until now - you had to be a Sky customer to watch it.

We will have to wait for the details, but a key difference between Spark and Sky is that the former is a company that is used to innovation and customer service as it operates in a competitive environment, whereas the latter is a dinosaur with historic indifference to customer service as it grew fat on monopoly rights. Which makes me think the upcoming 2019 RWC will be a much better experience for the consumer.

Anyway, that's me done and dusted for this thread - I'll wait now until more details are known about the new offering.

Well, that's simple. A Sky subscription used to include live access to all RWC games. Now it doesn't.

The majority of Sky subscribers are not affected. While rugby is very popular, it is a minority sport. Its not like 75% of everybody is into rugby. Many are not into sport, many sports watchers arent into rugby. But its likely to still be the most popular sport.

Its competition, and this latest news is competition. So competition is great as we all say, unless it affects us, in which case its bad? Cake and eat it too type of stuff IMHO

I think this is great news for consumers. At least it shows competition in action, and IMO is the first real game changer. The writing has been on the wall for a while that something like this could happen. I wonder if it had anything to do with the CEO resigning just a few days before?
Hopefully there will be more FTA games and more live ones on FTA. Hopefully will also lead to cheaper paid coverage. I just hope it won't lead to pay per game at high prices, and tiered prices based on what the game is, and instead a flat rate.

Its is good, its competition, I am all for it. me, I dunno if I'm affected, I dont really care. Let the market manage things

Likely I will be. I have Sky for motorsport, NRL etc, no issue there. I have free Lightbox, no issue there. I might need to stump up fees to watch the non FTA games. How much? $9-95? $19-95? $49-95? will need to wait and see.

Those that are non IT literate may struggle to get LB to their TV in a WAF way. Maybe some cost there too.

you just described what Spark used to be like and anyone who had to deal with them will know what they were like in the Telecom days. They were very much like Sky are now and it took Clear to start their change to what they are today , pretty much what Sky is going through at the moment with the competition with Netflix etc.

Common sense is not as common as you think.
