Hello everyone,

A quick update for anyone using Lightbox on their iPad. Tomorrows release of iOS 8 unfortunately introduces an incompatibility with the DRM component of our current iPad app. For any plays after the first one, audio will fade after 10 seconds.

We're working hard to get a fix (which will originate from Google/Widevine) and release an updated version as soon as we can.

Until then we advise people to either hold off on upgrading to iOS 8 or completely close their app after each playback (double tapping the home button and swiping up to kill the app) to avoid the issue.

Hopefully, we'll quickly be able to provide the update needed.

/Jakob

How did your app developers manage to get all the way to the end of the ios 8 beta period without picking this up?!

Hi Steve,

The issue is with Widevine integration, so we're not the only ones affected and awaiting a fix from Google. Very unfortunate, but not something that our developers "missed".

How hard do you have to try to get the issue to reproduce? I'm running the iOS 8 GM build and it seems fine. Watched a couple of clips, maybe 30 seconds each and now I'm watching something from the start, all good. Have not had to quit and restart. In fact I've only used various iOS 8 builds during my Lightbox trial.

Hi all,

We're working with Google and Apple to pin down the issue. Looks like the issue the also be remedied with either skip a little ahead/backward or pausing/resuming. Only if this doesn't work would you need to kill the app completely.

A gen 4 wifi-only iPad. With and without airplay. I may well have skipped ahead, I'll try it again later.

Are there other bugs being addressed in this release? Most grating for us is that pausing a show (being beamed to our Apple TV) results in the show no longer buffering, so playback stops after a couple of minutes. To resume again, we have to exit playback, select the previous show (as the next in the series is selected), press Play, then use the scrubber to reposition ourselves back where we were.
