I just went into the channel list and channel 5 Maori and channel 15 TeReo were unticked, ticked them and have EPG data for them and are they working fine.

Why did Tivo untick those 2 channels ?

Hybrid appear to have gone slack with support in the last months or so. I think at also may have something to do with Hybrid not having EPG data for those 2x channels.

Tivo upgrades to operate with the new OzTivo EPG, support and service. Over 400 performed here so far. See: www.hillcrest.net.nz

UPDATE:

Chipped and updated Tivo using 140 dial in code.

Yesterday, Thursday week was TO BE ADVISED on the EPG.

This morning, Thursday next week is full of programme detail.

It looks like everything is working in Oz for NZ listings and we will have a week ahead to use as an EPG.

Anyone sending a daily email from their Series3? The old Series1 had a dailymail that showed things like upcoming recordings, conflicts etc.

OK, so those who got a green flashing LED after doing the 'clear programs and to-do list', this is a coincidence (sort of). It is hardware issue, as can prove by unplugging the HDD and it will do the same thing. I have just fixed two units that both did this by retouching the socket soldering.

My theory is that the restart after doing the 'clear' is the first one that is done after the TiVo has been running for a while. Perhaps there are still traces of the low-temp solder used to remove the original chip. Anyway after it has been sitting warm for a while any borderline solder has lost contact. The chip is only read on boot, so it is fine on the first cold boots, but then later after running with the CPU at full load on restart it can't read it properly.

Good luck people but I'm not coming on this journey. As far as I'm concerned this major extinction event marks the end of the Tivonian Period for NZ. Fish grew legs and crawled onto land, and set top boxes developed streaming capabilities.

A time-poor geek is hardly a geek at all

Or just get one of the latest 4K TV.

Then you can stream 4K movies and shows off Netflix with the TV

Doing one thing - and doing it well - is better than doing everything poorly which is what I see from a lot of the set top boxes that also stream in NZ since we cant get more modern Tivo's for instance - the series 3 Tivo does FTA TV better than anything else on the market - so why wouldn't you use it - for streaming Fire TV and Nvidia Shield are hard to beat.

Make sure your Tivo goes to someone who can reuse it rather than throwing it out.

I just got given a TiVo that hasn't been connected to the world for a few years. Running 11.3b6-01-2-663. Making a network connection to the nz mothership now for what it's worth.

I got hold of it mostly to give some practice/redundancy for prom replacement - but it would be nice if i could use the hdd as well (it's probably got less running hours clocked up than mine come to think of it)

Will the nz mothership still hand out new firmware in its current state (or was firmware delivered OTA?)
If the mothership did it and still wiill, do I have to request this download, or is it automatic?

Answering my own question...

"If you’re setting up a new TiVo® media device, and a software update is available, your TiVo® media device will receive the update on the second successful connection after Guided Setup completes."

So I think I have nothing to lose here. I intend to to a guided setup on the box I was just given, in the hope that the existing mothership can still service it, and give me the new firmware.

Comments anyone?

You do realise that the tivo did do streaming both between boxes with the HNP and also via Caspa. It was probably one of the first boxes that did. The PVRs currently being sold aren't really any more advanced than the tivo IMO, and they are certainly to as easy to use.

I have yet to decide if I will keep mine going as would need to find someone to make the changes, and I now have a panasonic which uses the feed from the OTA freeview EPG
