I knocked this together today for no cost. There's a business close by that does aluminum windows and they chuck out a lot of long wooden pallets that the ali is shipped to them on, presumably. It's just rough sawn untreated pine.

I grabbed a few of them and have made a climbing tower for the kitties down at the PN SPCA. It'll be good to see if they like it.

It appears that my above piece of work has at least one four legged vote of approval. A cat was perched quite happily on some bedding near the top of it when I visited the SPCA this morning.

One of my flatmates moved out and have been struggling to fill the room, so decided to do some renovations while it was empty. Previously, the room was too small to really fit a double bed in. Because of the awkward location of the wardrobe, the only place you can put a bed is immediately in front of the door.

I have ripped out the wardrobe (keeping the top cupboards) and am in the process of making the room more versatile for future occupants.

Cool. Cats will love it. Just do not use by humans. I tried the same material (free to pick up from the Aluminum guy near our office in CBD). It is very weak and breaks easily.

I fixed up an old 1960s transistor AM radio that SWMBO likes to have as a fashion accessory on top of the fridge. It was still working but very poorly - maximum volume was barely audible. The cord for the tuner dial needed to be replaced and all the pulleys and the tuning capacitor bearings given a clean and lube. A total of 7 e caps on the board, cost $3.08 at Jaycar. It was battery only - used 4 "D" cells, now runs off an old 6v wall-wart phone charger.

Yep, it wouldn't be any good as a ladder or for anything carrying much weight. They make these pallets as cheap as possible as they're only used one time. Good as a cat tower, fire wood and maybe as boxing/pegs. That's about it.

I had some fun over the last few weeks taking some old Matai floor joists and making them into floating kitchen shelves

I just this weekend completed the Speedball upgrade to my Bottlehead Crack Headphone Amp! I managed to do it with only 1 bad solder joint! Tonight I'll actually get to listen to the finished product which I am super excited about!

So I could listen to the glorious mono AM radio through a pair of bluetooth headphones - or so I could transmit high-quality lossless digital music to be played through a 50 year old 4" Rola speaker in the radio?
