Any experience / opinions on the Toolshed Router table

https://www.thetoolshed.co.nz/product/593-toolshed-router-table

3 year warranty seems to show confidence in the product.

Anyone own one/used one ?

Looks identical to one I helped someone assemble (after they had to box it up and send away for a warranty repair). The channel that the mitre gauge slides along didn't line up so you'd slide it through 66% of the way then it would get stuck and not reach the end. Eg the slot in the darker grey 'clipon' bits didn't line up with the lighter grey in the middle.

Never actually used it itself.

I bougght the ozito table only from bunnings, but my router will not fit it so will have to get another router before I can use it. Typical cut down as far as possible construction on it and the tool shed one didnt look much better to me other than coming with the motor. Extension sides were not that well lined up, but that might have been assembly as they were folded metal with slots for nuts and bolts to go onto the middle bit. Same thing happend with my ozito but I was able to get things lined up better.

Machinery House has their September sale on at the moment. Their cheaper units look similar to the Toolshed model and probably aren't much better, but it might be worth a look.

The Ozito unit is rubbish. I have one and it's the worst Ozito tool I own. The fence is basically useless. Fortunately for what I'm doing I don't really need to use it. I just think it's easier to use a table than hand hold the router.

Yeah the fence on my Ryobi Benchsaw is utter garbage too, I bought it on a whim to do a job. I am happy with my other Ryobi stuff.

Can't run Dado blades which is one of the reasons I have wondered if I can use a router table to do the bits and pieces I want for making drawers for the workshop and so on.

May have to save some bigger $ and get something better quality.

I looked at these tables and didn't like what I saw, so bought a 1/2" router off them and built my own table.

https://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=141&topicid=116854&page_no=31#2201971

Some of the things I didn't like;

Table top too small, maximum 50mm from edge of wood to router bit, flimsy tin and plastic fittings etc.

About the only thing I liked was that it had a wheel to raise and lower the bit.

You could possibly throw away all the fittings and mount the top into a piece of mdf. Then you would be able to make a decent fence etc.

I talked to someone at Toolshed about this, and they said that although Toolshed sold lots of good own-brand tools, this was not one of them.  They pointed out how out-of-plumb everything was and that apparently it was pretty prone to failure. Said they pretty much normally just warn people away from buying it.

Which was all good feedback, so I made my other Toolshed purchases and left the router there :)

So the router is built in? Check what it's like to change bits, some router tables make it almost impossible without removing the entire router just to do a bit change. In particular the one-size-misfits-all tables can be a real pain because the designers don't know what's needed to access the router. Even tables that you'd think should work, like the Ozito table and Ozito router, don't (the Ozito table is a generic one sold under a number of different names, not designed to fit the Ozito router).

Ahh, yeah, that's the one I point out in the previous message. Even if it fitted, you might not be able to change bits on it. Some guy did a video review of it where he shows how painful it is to work with... ahh, here it is.

It's not not too bad if you remove the springs and put the router on with the switch facing the rear. The cable comes out the top of the router, so it hits the surface on which the table is mounted, but it's not a tight bend.

I still wouldn't recommend this combination however. I got the table for a specific job and it will come in handy for other things, but it's far from what I expect even from Ozito.
