opened my phone to see an email from netflix

We're sorry to say goodbye
Dear Morgenmuffel,
Unfortunately, we have not been able to resolve the issue with your payment and your membership has been cancelled.
Obviously, we’d love to have you back. All you have to do is restart your membership.

assuming it was some phishing bollocks, i went into my netflix account, on a different device, to see i now had no service attached to my account

Long story short, I restated my membership, using all my stored details

But what irks me is that there was no prior notification that there was an issue, i regularly get the "a new show has been added" emails, so i keep an eye out for the netflix ones

but nothing mentioning an issue

Is this normal?

The account had adequete money in it nothing is due to expire accountwise

Just a pain in the proverbial

Cheers

Never heard of that happening. See the charge on my credit card each month reliably, even manages to go thru when I am over my limit on the card so something weird that they never emailed that it failed.

I had netflix magically change the active plan I was on. Cant remember the details exactly, it was around the time they put prices up, I magically ended up the the "premium" plan, instead of "standard" that I've had forever.

I had mine cancelled today as well. Fixed with changing some settings on my DNS

If you're using some sort of unblocking service (don't discuss services please in public) then ensure you're setting up billing in NZ dollars by logging into your Netflix account on a device without your unblocking. The unblocked content will work without issues and you'll continue to be charged in $NZD. If you change plans (upgrade / downgrade) or change credit card then ensure you do this from a standard NZ IP without the unblocking service.

I suddenly has Netflix stop working/cancel also just today.  Looks like my credit card expired at the end of 2017 and Netflix never sent a notification email (or email was never received).  I talked with Netflix and they, of course, said they have no issues but this may be the root cause for a number of others too.  Restarting subscription may require a a change of password, new plan selection and then updated credit card info.  Happy viewing.

nope I have never used an unblocking service, just plain old NZ netflix, but weirdly it appears they just haven't bothered to take money out of the account, i assume its supposed to be automated?

The account always has money, and the card hasn't expired

just weird

My daughter had that happen, she is on Spark, so bound to be the 12 months free Netflix. I got an email a day or so later, they will be cancelling on 17 Sept 2017!!!

I must find time to sort this out before then......

This was last week

This happened to me last night. 4 years, no issues then randomly - cancelled. Very strange.
