How does one look after getting vaccinated 😄
I was booked for Jab1 for about now, today. Got a cancellation email. Damn Covid.
There's a 'book' button on the email/web page as well as a 'change booking' button further down, off screen when reading on a phone.
The page was smart enough to tell me I couldn't 'book' cos it detected I have a (cancelled) booking. The page wasn't smart enough to take me straight to the 'change booking' function on its' own, but I got there in the end.
So instead of having the jab process underway today, I've been pushed out 3-4 weeks from now. Bah. Rotten timing.

The government and MoH seems to have been sitting on their hands during level 1. Now their lack of planning appears to have come to roost.
Go and get a vaccination says Ardern. Sure, get a text to say it's still on, and turn up and it's closed.
Go and get a vaccination with your kids. Sure, turn up, if the place is open, they don't have enough stock on hand to do your kids. I feel sorry for those providing vaccinations as they get the brunt of the shambles and on the fly decisions.
We are in this for a long time I suspect.
Whilst I accept the government and MOH are not perfect, I'm not sure this is a fair assessment.
Are there reports of people turning up to closed vaccination centres and/or taking kids along to centres and having no stock (or are you saying you had either/both of these happen to you?) I haven't seen any so I'm genuinely asking. Edit: have just seen reports of this happening at Highbrook on Stuff. Seems like they've closed the centre physically however some people were still sent automated text messages reminding them of their appointment. Does seem hit or miss as I have a friend who received a text message saying their appointment was cancelled and to rebook.
What I will say is that it was publicly announced and widely reported there was a 48 hour suspension of vaccinations at the onset of Level 4. It was also publicly announced that some centres in Auckland would reopen today while others remain closed as the staff are redeployed to support testing. This seems a fair, on the fly response to the demand for testing, doesn't it?
55 cases in Melbourne today with their pretty strict lockdown rules and a much higher population base who are vaccinated.
Batman: I was just thinking.
It's funny how we have zero cases. And then we suddenly find all these cases everywhere.
This could be an ongoing issue as surely the more we vaccinate, the more asymptomatic people could be spreading it without knowing?

Was not looking closely but it appeared she had a small tape/bandage on her arm (ie, type they put on after an injection). But yes, that could have been from some other injection. It was a Covid vaccination after-jab waiting area though, and they left after being told their time was up.

Yep.
Melbourne has issues with high-density living, communication difficulties with some, non-compliance / fatigue from 200 days lockdown, and toxic political divisions.
Its on the move now in Welly ??

Oh I thought maybe they were all holding their arms in pain 😁.
I kid because I know the actual shot doesn't hurt.

Not sure if you are joking or not. We got just one case, then 6x6x6 started. We have 22 + looks like 2 in Welly, plus whatever is released today, and Dr A stated the other day that we may already have over 100 cases. When there is a positive test thats day ago, so there is a lag, and of course many that should but wont get a test (antivaxxers, too much hassle, its just a cold)
Id rather have 100+ cases in a NZ lockdown than 10 cases in a NSW lockdown

We have also seen that it takes a week or so for measures to take effect, the virus is effectively ahead of you.
So if your prior measures were not that strict its hurry up and wait for benefit.
The degree of brainwashing by the Aussie shock jock , Murdock media has created a lot of non compliance.

Only to whoever else lives at home. Lockdown matters. (yes there is the essential worker risk)
OT. I am seeing more traffic here at home then the last L4 lockdown

That's the entire point, COVID-19, especially Delta, spreads like wildfire - Delta has an an R0 of about 6, each infected person infects about 6 new ones.
1 case becomes 6 cases, becomes 42, becomes 258...

I am not at all surprised that NZ slept-walked into what will probably be an outbreak of 100+ cases… I had a personal experience a couple of weeks ago around trying to get a test – I had been sick for 2 weeks and while it almost certainly just a standard winter virus spread from my son at daycare, I thought considering it had run for a while I should get a test.
First port of call was my enrolled medical center. After calling they confirmed they couldn’t give a test. They suggested I contact 2 other medical centers who were doing testing. Neither of them picked up the phone when I tried to call. One of them was close by (inside Sylvia Park mall) so I decided to go there anyway. When I arrived, the receptionist said the nurse doing tests was on leave that day and to come back tomorrow.
At that point I gave up.
According to the published locations of interest going back to the start of August it looks like there could have been community spread for 3 weeks. Luckily someone did manage to win the lottery of being able to get a test or it could be another 3 weeks and increased hospital admissions before the country figured it out too.
New Zealand’s vaccination rates are the lowest in the OECD – Australia is nearly 100% ahead of us in first doses and countries like the US and UK are already completing vaccination for all those who wanted it. Testing is near on impossible. Practically no one scanning QR codes going into businesses. NZ has been incredibly complacent about this virus.
I don’t see the media putting any kind of pressure on the government about these either. Just the usual praise for “hard and early” with the prime minister at the podium in a nice daily photo op. Is the lockdown hard – yes. Is New Zealand early? No. Lack of testing availability, lack of strong encouragement or enforcement for location tracking, multiple quarantine breaches including people jumping a fence and going to the dairy – we are behind on everything.
While I was fully vaccinated as at the start of July - I’ve still got a cough 4 weeks later. Maybe one day I can get a test – maybe at Christmas at this rate…..
