Feeling a bit more optimistic today after my specialists appointments on Wednesday. Going against recent trends and to their surprise my latest test results have stabilised in some areas and improved a bit in other areas. We are awaiting for special funding approval to try something new.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

What a great result to have from where you were just a few weeks ago. Congrats.

Get someone to help with your moving and packing, even if it costs something, it's a wildly stressful job and with a toddler in the house, made that much more difficult.

A few years ago we used a company called the finishing touch. I still maintain it was the best money we spent bar none that year. They packed the house, moved and unpacked, made the beds, cleaned both houses. It was more or less like we never lived in the new place.

It's a good outcome, a period of very big change over the next few months, but at least it will be concentrated in one bit.

We've got both sets of in-laws for toddler-wrangling and packing/unpacking on the day, plus we'll knock off everything but the essentials over Easter Weekend.

Going to have a fun time with getting TVs off the wall because I think my existential anger at possibly being stuck in that house forever was reflected in the intensity of how aggressively they were bolted to the wall.

I think I'll just leave the bracket systems for the new owners to use how they see fit.

Saw the Doctor less than 48 hours ago.

Already have the appointment for a head CT on the 20th at Public Hospital!

Boy, that's fast!

That's fantastic. I hope it turns out to be something not serious.

The "upside" of a head CT scan is that I'll have proof of a brain being inside the head and not my big toe (As some seem to think)!!!

You have to look on the positive side.

So after 3 years of missed Birthday parties, we FINALLY managed to put one together for her this year, which involved friends coming over, staying the night, and her getting her favourite foods and activities.

It was delayed a week due to one guest being unwell, and we were stressing majorly it wouldn't happen, but it did. She is a very happy kid this morning despite not getting much sleep.

On the downside, the rest of the family seems to have come down with some bug and everyone is feeling pretty average nut she is off to school with the happy smile on her face.

The family’s happiness level directly impacts your own so you must feel very content now. Great news that she enjoyed it albeit at a very different stage of her life. Three years makes a big difference to what little girls like at parties.

No, contrary to popular belief, I can confirm from this mornings scan that a brain is still present!

Functionality, on the other hand......

Well...I've been a bit wobbly the last couple of weeks.

Not sure if it's because we have the builders coming to complete the year-long project that is flood-damage-repairs on casa Handsome, or if it's due to the fact that Mrs Dan is being made redundant (we've known about that for over a year), or if it's general malaise.

But yeah...I just feel off. Quite off.

Great news that work will finally be done and completion will be a cause for joy. As for becoming redundant, with so much work available maybe this will be a change for the better with a short rest in between.

I’m a great believer in distraction when anxiety sets in. Get stuck into something that needs your brain to be in gear or just a slow walk around Bunnings etc to get eyes and thoughts moving in a different direction.

Example, distraction took away the focus on a head pain that I just knew was certain to be a large tumour and was exacerbated by the anxiety. Two friends recently diagnosed didn’t help the imagination. Got busy with a heap of stuff that needed doing and it has magically cured itself, whereas while I continued to focus it steadily felt worse.

Roll on my Coeliac Endoscopy. Symptoms are gradually increasing. I only got tested due to sister being diagnosed in December. The growing side effects are ok, but tiredness and lethargy is really setting in. And I see the growing easy chores that are happening slowly, guilt and frustration sets in. Even though intestine repair takes many months, I've read that once I can go GF, things perk up relatively quickly as in feeling better, sister said that too

I can relate to this; if the repair work is a thing you've been hyper-focused on getting done then something else coming along can effectively rob you of the ability to just put it behind you and enjoy not having to deal with it anymore.

Plus this will sound weird but it's also been quite a change to go from relentless rain to just... summer. A proper summer. I mean it's almost April, but it's here-ish.

Actually the summer thing is quite true...I feel like we were robbed of summer and now we have this lovely weather interspersed with crappy days, but we can't really enjoy the summer because the days are shorter, the summer vibe escaped to god knows where and the mornings and evenings are cooler.

It's...annoying.

My wife was admitted to hospital with a pulmonary embolism (well, actually several) on Friday so this past weekend has been a pretty stressful experience for her as it is usually me that is in hospitals, not her.

Turned out to be quite stressful for me too as I am unused to seeing it from the visitor's chair.

They allowed her home this afternoon so she is pleased to be back in her own bed and sleeping without the hospital disturbances. I did offer to wake her at 0500 and do her BP etc but oddly she declined my offer.

I think this week will be a combination of getting over the shock of all that and adjusting to the new way of things for her - she has to take tablets every day now just like me (although only one compared to about 14 for me...!).

Just for a moment there I thought I would be reaching for her life insurance policy, which was sobering.
