Some people may have heard that the vaccine eligibility in NZ maybe restricted from July 24. But apparently that is fake news as per below.

My flatmate just got covid for the first time recently. Eligible for antiviral but due to medication interactions couldn't use them. He hasn't had a booster in the last couple of years and got through it pretty well. Maybe one rough day. Interestingly I thought pharmacists could prescribe the antiviral but seems they need a script now. He couldn't get an appointment with his dr so was given an 0800 number. Leave your details and they text a form to fill out for your medical background. They later called to clarify one of the medications but I think it's a good service when you can't get to your own dr.

The rest of us escaped it. The other flatmate didn't want to mask but wasn't in the common areas at the same time and had the sliding door open. I used an N95/eyewear first few days then scaled it back to a medical type mask when the positive flatmate wasn't around and after ~30mins ventilation. An extra maybe 15 mins later I'd remove the mask/eyewear altogether depending on when the positive guy was last around. We still had brief interactions with masks on. He seemed to lock himself away apart from coming out to cook and forgot he could go for a drive or walk.

This is my 4th time being a household contact but only had covid once. I've never bothered with extra cleaning. Not a major route of transmission and I'm doing well without it. The time I did get covid I knew I'd been caught. Involved prolonged exposure yapping away. They were sick the next day and tested positive.

I don't think I know anyone that hasn't had covid now.

The predictable outcome of sacking the fact-checkers in the name of "back office" austerity...

PS: I'm still testing negative as of this post, and hopefully it'll remain that way.

I saw that and was super disgusted by the US. However I'm not surprised. It's stunts like these that turn the US public against their own authorities when they behave like that. Trying to retaliate against China was BS. Everyone knew it originated in China. No social media campaign could cover that up.

I have a love / hate relationship with the US. They're great but they're also dumb af.

Robin Williams once said it best during an address to his Canadian fans: "You are like a really nice apartment over a meth lab."

And still on Canada, the current Canadian PM's father personally told Richard Nixon that "Living next to you is in some ways like sleeping with an elephant. No matter how friendly and even-tempered is the beast, if I can call it that, one is affected by every twitch and grunt."

For its sake & the rest of the world's sake, America needs to zap the neo-Confederate Dominionist cancer before it spreads & kills its host.

Article of interest to older people

COVID-19 Vaccine Effectiveness in Autumn and Winter 2022 to 2023 Among Older Europeans.  https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jamanetworkopen/fullarticle/2820602

In particular:

" ...  within 3 months of vaccination, all COVID-19 vaccine effectiveness (CVE) estimates were 29% to 39% against SARS-CoV-2 viruses and 44% to 52% against the XBB variants. All point estimates decreased by time after vaccination, with no vaccine protection after 6 months".

That's why us older people roll our sleeves up every six months.

So far it has worked for the older people in our household even when 26year old daughter had covid.

I have a feeling this is an old pamphlet.  The discussion about the number of discarded face masks and mask exemptions would have made a lot more sense back in 20/21

Did your neighbours get one too? If so I can't believe they're still peddling this crap. No wonder their "radio station" (lol) went off the air due to a lack of funding if they're still paying for drivel like this to be sent out.

I did see them in other boxes. Really weird because almost no one is wearing masks now anyway. Heck, I was only one masked in the doctor's waiting room a couple of weeks ago 🤨

Odd given they were crying poor recently, yet they could still afford to do mailbox drops for this nonsense.

Maybe it was printed before they ran out of money and they needed them to go somewhere. Recycling the paper would have been a better use of it.
