kingdragonfly: Failure to take defense measures against the pandemic is not the product of authoritarian caprice. Just delusion and mismanagement.

"President ............ ................ believes himself to be a world authority on many things, including, to the misfortune of his put-upon subjects, health and medicine. "

Fill in the blanks.

It's from the article @kingdragonfly linked to about the President of Turkmenistan and his determined head in the sand attitude to Coronavirus. But equally it describes the Trump. Makes you think...

Sigh - dicks.

IMO people that don't follow the rules, will just keep us in lockdown for longer, simple as that. I recall that is also what thy said when level 3 and 4 was announced. I do wonder if they will look into curfews.

The Police approach I feel is best. EEE But reading between the lines I can see a line being crossed, and they go hard, enforcement wise. They do need to be lawful, but there is discretion in this state or emergency. IANAL. If they can be non aggressive but just grab these idiots and throw them into cells, there masses will rejoice. As in the EQ's when people stole gas bottles, they got arrested, in custody, but bugger a court date isn't for a month or two.

Sigh - dicks.

A bit of community service would seem appropriate like digging graves for the victims.

Maybe his excuse is he did not know there was a lockdown happening.

I don't entirely agree, leadership is a trait and a leader needs to earn the support to get accepted as a leader. Just because someone is voted into a position it doesn't make them a leader even though you might hope that is the case.

Sorry what point are you guys trying to make by arguing the semantics of the term leader? Can we keep it on topic - the minister of health, someone quite influential during a health crisis, is breaking his own government's guidelines while we all suffer in isolation. If you don't have anything to add to the conversation feel free to stay out of it completely.

Not only was he a dick for doing this it was a dumb. I mean parking a sign written van at a place like that for all to see!!!! Talk about drawing attention. The Minister of Health of all people. Do as I say not do as I do. Comes back to leading by example, but then again is he a leader or just a figurehead?
