I would never have thought that the holiday spot/bach for Easter would be considered by anyone in level 4, but media raises it. Is that clickbait? Surely no one thinks thats viable right now?
Don't underestimate the stupidity of some.

Don't underestimate the stupidity/ignorance of people😉
Sometimes I use big words I don't always fully understand in an effort to make myself sound more photosynthesis.
I don't believe that we will come out of level 4 on schedule. We are still hovering around 50+ new cases per day and we still have returning Kiwis coming back into NZ that may or may not be infected. If we come out too early this lockdown will have been for nothing as the will a marked increase of cases. We need to hunker down and go the distance.
edit; corrected per week to per day
Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.
The return of overseas travellers without firm quarantine makes it really hard to understand why Ardern keeps saying we "closed the borders" when the borders are demonstrably not closed.

Yep, Just look at the *cough* leaders Dr Clark and Simon Bridges for example. If they can't get it right what do we think the swimming, mountain biking and surfing group will do. Easter I believe is a major threat to the lock down and that is why the NZDF is being deployed this week.

Got a source for that deployment?

Just look at the various NZ press sites. The PM also advised same in her press conference.

They have stated that a full quarantine for all is under active consideration. Guven the ever decreasing numbers I'd say thats a guarantee condition for Alert 3 replacing Alert 4. yes the borders are not closed thats right, but you can also say we dont have a lockdown either, as the border condition is the same as the conditions for the rest of us
I think you folks see the borders as not "closed" because New Zealanders are allowed to return home. We don't however allow other nationals to enter the country anymore. This, to me is closed borders.
I'd like to see you same folks complaining the borders aren't closed complain if not even New Zealanders were allowed into the country anymore.

There have already been reports on TVNZ1 News of popular holiday destination baches suddenly being occupied, and local mayors / community board chairs complaining that their medical facilities are barely sufficient to cope with the regular permanent population, let alone an influx of potentially CV19-carrying outsiders.

Its not that. The issue some have here is that the risk of incubating the virus is much higher for incoming travellers, and that they should all be on full quarantine rather than the on trust self isolation that we are in. I agree with that except it wasnt possible due to the large numbers coming in. Now they are light, and we may leave Level 4 soon, now is the time to do that. Not possible before though. Too many people no empty hotels. Now we have low numbers and empty hotels, its doable now. As for Kiwis coming home, we had to do that and accept the risk.

I definitely agree. There's a difference between "closed borders" and "quarantine".
