Timelines on the Roskill Evangelical Church are a bit odd.
It was weeks ago when those that attended certain services and a wedding were asked to get tested, when first cases appeared there.
Repeated when more cases turned up there each day, then we had the big push on testing where this Churches test center was said to be empty.
It was said that they all with their contacts had been tested in a release some time back ?

So we should have captured these early, and indeed if it was like the first Pacific Islands Church where pastor encouraged everyone to get tested.
Americold branch seem to have stopped generating new cases.
Well we should have been golden.
But week later we not only have new Evangelical cases, but we have people who are still out shopping ?

I note the press release still has 46 people they have not located yet.
"Since August 11, our contact tracing team has identified 3274 close contacts of cases, of which 3,228 have been contacted and are self-isolating, and we are in the process of contacting the rest," the ministry said.

I'm puzzled how this pans out, I can understand a chain of infection over time in an unknown group, but where they are well known.

Edit, I type therefore I typo

Now I'm not being racist in just wanting to point out that if the so called church cluster is merely a Pacific Island cluster the characteristics of the cluster could be explained by multigenerational dwellings and close social behaviour as opposed to religion related.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but that's what I'm thinking.

The common factor is the church where I assume the first and many of the cases were linked directly to. I would have thought that cultural factors (more social) and living arrangements (more people per household) have then influenced the spread pattern. Maybe it's evolving into a 'pacifica cluster' but I would have thought that just chance based on where it originated.

yes but let's not forget they broke the level 3 rules (that's factually correct isn't it), but then they were responsible enough to get tested and honest enough to admit but what's going on now i have no idea. we know from seeing elsewhere that once you get a cluster forming it finds ways to keep going and going in socially tightknit groups and multigenerational dwellings.

How is it that the Counties Manukau Steelers have a game against Tasman on Saturday night with limited crowd numbers (apparently 4 bubbles of 100??!!).  How is this possible when Mass Gatherings are limited to 10 people unless its a funeral or tangi?

Auckland will still be at level 2.5 - and you can bet your bottom dollar that Aucklanders will be attending.

Why can people go to see Auckland rugby at level 2.5 when I'm not allowed to watch my kids play other sport at Level 2?

Churches and sports are bullshit this year.

I was going to mention countries "reopening" without having done anything extraordinary really - Australia, Spain, Italy, UK... Decided not to but then saw "Covid 19 coronavirus: Europe's huge virus spike"

Coronavirus cases in Europe have begun to rise dramatically, with Spain hitting a total of 500,000 cases sparking fears other nations could be next.

Spain's total cases crossed the half a million mark overnight as the government struggled to contain a surge of infections in one of Europe's hardest-hit countries.

The country of around 47 million people has recorded 525,549 confirmed cases of Covid-19, and 29,516 related deaths, since its first case was diagnosed on January 31 on the remote island of La Gomera in the Canaries, the nation's health ministry said.

New Zealand cannot go down the same path. Reopening too early because some lobbyists want their clients to make money, opening "travel bubbles" to Australia, hosting games - these are all things we shouldn't accept or assume safe.

Read that again - Spain "[a] country of around 47 million people has recorded 525,549 confirmed cases of Covid-19, and 29,516 related deaths, since its first case was diagnosed on January 31"

What's the economic cost of these deaths? What are the lasting side effects on the health of those who "recovered"? Will all of them going to be able to work again?

And then we have the covidiots, "fighting" for our "rights" (and also fighting against vaccines, 5G, globalism, Bill Gates implanting microchips, a New World Order and whatever else covidiots believe).

Supposedly one of today's cases.

Which suggests they are not isolating?

St Doms is on the same stretch of road as Waitakere College.

I've noticed the police using tear gas on the left wing covidiots in the states.   A rather clever way of enforcing mask use.  I don't know if the chemical masks are any good for the virus but at least they were forced to wear them.  They should use gas on the right wing covidiots here.  Protesting your political issues is one thing but not wearing masks while doing so is just plain stupid.

Looks to be a growing concern now. Schools have been shown to be clusters for this virus, yet we have reopened them, and don't even require students to wear masks. When will we learn from what has happened overseas.  Either the MOH haven't been able to find or contact all close contacts, or people haven't been self isolating who should have been, we only need a few to slip through and we may have wider spread community spread and undetected cases. The way testing has also dropped right back is another problem.  Exactly why IMO the border in Auckland should have remained shut. I wonder what happens with the election if we go back into level 3, or maybe they will delay it until after the election? But if the virus is in the community, it will possibly mean the lowest voting percentage figures ever.

Chris Hipkins supposedly said on RNZ it seemed like it may not be being taken seriously and contact tracing is proving difficult as they are reluctant to provide details.

I keep wanting to see the best in people and keep being disappointed. Humans are there own worst enemy.
I really should remember "trust but verify".
May have to take back some things I said about the church group...

What's not taken seriously and who's not providing contacts history?
