I try to remember to check now if I'm using a charger, sometimes I forget. As far as an ICE parking in an EV spot so far I've had that happen once and that was at the Pak n Save in Kaitaia, the woman that parked there just before I got to it didn't have a clue. I think the park wasn't near capacity and there were closer parks to the shop too.

There's more and more Leafs showing up around here, a few Teslas and Konas, a Zoe and the little BMW just speaking from personal observation. So far the nearest stations are a Vector at the most recently built Bastard Petroleum station and a Chargenet near a Z station. The nearest two shopping centres don't currently have any EV parks, I wonder when this situation might change if the numbers of EVs grows as seems to be the case.

I suspect that as EV's become more normal the special treatment (dedicated parks and free charging in parking buildings and malls) will cease.

That's not to say there won't be chargers in those locations, but they will be for lease-holders of the retail/office spaces etc.

Top 10 All-Electric Supercars that Show Unbeatable Acceleration and Speed

Automotive Territory: Trending News & Car Reviews

We have come a long way from the point when electric cars were nothing but an underpowered fad and an attempt of automakers to comply with emission standards.

Modern EVs are steadily taking over the world and already competing for the titles of supercars with unbeatable acceleration and impressive speeds.

In this episode you will see the fastest and most advanced models that exist today and stand against the internal combustion domination on the tracks and highways.

Will they be able to oust Bugattis, Koenigseggs or will those manufacturers themselves will turn to electric propulsion?

New 2020 Renault ZOE - could this 242-mile supermini be the most affordable EV ever?

Auto Express

"This is the new Renault ZOE, the latest version of Europe’s best selling electric car.

Redesigned inside and out, Renault says the new electric supermini is capable of 390 km on a single charge thanks to its larger 52kWh battery"

Easily do a trip from Auckland to New Plymouth. About NZD $70,000

I wouldn't want to.

Yeah, good luck with that in a Starlet. lol

But a towbar for taking a weekend's gardening offcuts down to the recycling centre is a must for me.

If you try to do either of those drives without stopping with any regularity you're going to die, or at least get yourself a serious UTI.

I don't believe @afe66 was being serious lol.  I think instead they're mocking the typical comments you see on Stuff

The Zoe's weak point has always been the lack of DC fast charging, which is now fixed, ,

But its still a 60-70K NZD car, so calling it "most affordable" is probably a stretch....

It looks like Auckland may be the only place to buy a new Zoe.

...but I bet you could get a older UK one for a good import price.

Interestingly, both the current Zoe and Leaf (base models) have RRPs of GBP30K in the UK. But by the time they get here, the Leaf is $NZ60K and the Zoe is $NZ70K. And I figure the bigger Zoe battery will make it cost even more. Those figures don’t include any subsidies but are VAT incl.
I’d be spending the few thou more (than the Zoe) and get a Model 3, even if it is black.

Didn't you get the memo. the free colour is now white....  :)

( it'll probably change again if Elon bangs his head, or has a design ephiphany)
