Good grief! I don't think anyone thought IRB would let them away with it, another $5000 in the IRB coffers!
They really have been the negative focus of the tournament.
BTW congrats to Auckland transport who have done an outstanding job. We used Public Transport all weekend and it didn't miss a beat!
I bet the French will think it the best 5K they spent during their visit!

I saw it as them accepting the challenge, nothing wrong with that, I'd much rather they take a couple of steps forward than turn their backs to it.?
networkn: Also never ceases to amaze me how little that trophy is for such a hard road to win it!

networkn: Hi There!
Wow, I can't believe some people, apparently a few people have bailed up All Blacks to give them a hard time about an unacceptable win margin!
No pleasing some people, would have been nice for a wider scoreline, but seriously, we have the CUP!
One of the team said he would have preferred to have lost by 40 points than 1.

While it is good we finally won the WRC, I wholeheartedly agree with Dingbat, also the game could have gone either way in the last 10 minutes. A 1 point win is a lucky win.
The French showed up to win, we showed up NOT to lose.
I believe the AB's choked, IMHO.
Had the French managed a penalty or a dropped goal, Tongans would never let us forget... 'They' beat the French, and by more than 1 point.
I'm confident we were/are better than this froggy team by a lot more than the winning margin. Roll on 2015 ;)

We beat that French team by 20 points, we also beat Tonga by 31. The truth is by the time of the grand final both teams had a very different line up, we didn't have a full time goal kicker and therefore missed out on a lot of?opportunities?to increase our lead. But in the end we won anyway. IMHO the French were the luckiest team ever in the history of RWC. They scraped through barely in the pool matches and just barely beat Wales in the semi's. Their luck ran out.

we beat, they beat, he beats, who wins ...
if everything is on paper, we don't have a tournament. we say, ok ABs are the best, everyone else go home, turn on tv and watch CSI.
the nature of tournaments, is that the 'better team on the day' should score more points, and should therefore, win.
sometimes they don't because of very small errors like missing penalty kicks, dropping the ball in the 22, red cards, referee mistakes ... but sometimes teams play to the books to ensure they score more points than their opposition - these teams are called "filthy", "lucky", "froggy" etc
it's a bit like university exams. you can be the best physics student. but if you turn up to the exam and do your own thing, you won't get top marks if you don't write your steps, or write irrelevant stuff and waste time, etc, marks won't be awarded. so you are the best student, studied for 10 hours a day 7 days a week, but the guy who plays starcraft for 10 hours a day tops the paper. familiar?
