Not having Ferguson severely limits how effective our bowlers can be. Look at what happened with the new ball yesterday. Boult got very little out of it and Southee kept bowling across the pitch. Boult's opening wicket was incredible but you need two pacemen who can swing a new ball from both ends.

Wagner is fine if you want to pepper batsmen with shorter deliveries but we don't seem to have any other fallback options. Santner was out of the attack almost as quickly as he was bought in.

The Australians will have Shield level players bowling 150kmh deliveries at them all day in the nets. We just don't have the strike-power in this squad to trouble them in that way.

And just like that, they've added 50 runs since Smith went and NZ haven't looked like getting another wicket.

And Ferrari supposedly had the best car on the grid at some point this season - what did it count for?

Winning a series in Australia is a big deal precisely for that reason. Just dismissing it because 'we always have no show' is avoiding asking difficult questions.

Its just absurd. We Avg over 40 to 7 and 30 to 9.

Basically this is just RUBBISH from NZ, no heart or commitment from bowler or batsman.

Nobody outside maybe Wagner has stood up to them.

This is a benign flat track. I know they have cummins who is Sir R Hadlee esque with line and length and Starc is just straight out an enforcer. But you have to be able to play them to be world #2 and we look like a minnow team looking to get into Test cricket at the moment.

Definitely Larsen flapped up the selection picking a squad miles out from it leaving which forced them to use Blundell for Raval.

Given Munro's form. Id have just put him back in. He cant do any worse and we need someone who scores runs fast not dodles around waiting to get out.

But honestly, if they cant block non swinging balls and are edging them to slips, something wrong with them. And then playing at balls 6 inches outside off should just be let go, yes it takes intense concentration, but its flappn test cricket.

Bowling we get everybody but Manus to #5 cheap. But we have no enforcer that comes in and bowls a 152kph yorkers, time and time again until those wickets are knocked over. If Ferguson is unfit, is one of the other fast fasts not injured?

But straight up we need line and length bowling at Melb. Im not a Matt Henry fan, but this is what he is built for. Tim Southee bowling balls that dont swing, dropping from 134kph down to 124kph is just not good enough. I feel his time is up for touring certain countries. Id have Fergusson ahead of him.

Santner is a F.... waste of SPACE. As I said prior to the tour and one person didnt believe me, he would get smashed and would not deliver with the bat. He is a waste of a position in the side. Bowl Ajaz Patel who is a true wicket taker and can turn the ball every which way possible. Total waste of talent him and Fergussion not being selected vs Eng and now Aus (Ferg getting inj in Perth).

Santner only scores when his career is on the line and its so aggrevating to watch. He is too non chalant to give a ..... about how he performs so I say sack the mug and use one of our real spinners and not Todd Astle.

FFS Larsen stop trying to plug gaps with all rounders. If the top 6 cant bat, thats not the job of the bowlers. Pick the best players, not a hodge podge team where we have 3 wickets keepers playing, seriously......

NZ needed to blood Lockie Fergusson in NZ vs Eng, that was so unfair on him the way he was introduced. That Perth Ground is rock hard so easy to see how the injury occured.

On the plus side we might slip a place but Aussies cant over take us in the rankings haha

Wow. Have you considered that AUS are too good for us? And at the MCG no less. If we had the skill we would perform better there, but we haven't. And that AUS wont overtake us in the rankings is that important???

So, on the same vein, Kane is being bagged by the media. Someone needs to tell the media that his average is world class, and BTW its an average. For every period where he might get a few lower scores in a row there are periods when he gets high scores in a row

Three wicketkeepers playing?? Latham and Watling can bat, they would be worth being there if they had never wicket kept.

Its a game, chill out, we are being beaten fair and square, in conditions that AUS live for

Blundell looks to be a find. Plus he is our third wicket keeper option :-)

Boult is out, Fergusson is out, so the Sydney game is already over, but interesting to see if the batsmen can dig in or not

Santner selecting shots well. Going airborne to a clear field

Still miffed about CdeG, needs to be dumped. he's not a team player, and watching BlackCaps over the years, we need to get rid of those that can't pick a ball, too often we have batsmen that can't think, go airborne and hope. No talent.

A positive is we now have a permanent opener. Santner good. Now a replacement needed for CdeG. Probably no one out there, given that we replaced Raval with Blundell who doesn't open. We have no depth, clearly.

We are, were not No.2, we snuck in the back door to get that "achievement", not earned. So we must accept that we are not a great team, nor a very good team, we race best once the top guns teams are not around. Had we all seen that, the expectation of the recent series would be well beaten, and no media issues, but we are being hammered as everyone seemed to expect we would compete. I did too. I expected us to lose or draw each match but that we would compete. Compound that with AUS is now an amazing team (at home) which used to be the norm. Although their tail can be weak

India here on the 24th. They are No.1. IMHO AUS would beat India the majority of the time, but we are at home, no pace wickets, and a few finds (Blundell, Astle, Philips) CdeG will continue to screw our batting, as hes not a team player, he should be out. He's not a bowler. Out anyone in thats a part timer the batsmen will go after them and get themselves out

Lets hope the selectors don't go back to picking all the old normal ones, thereby keeping the next gen away
