^ Pilots youtube page, he subscribed to some fairly normal stuff, science mainly, including TED, some of his comments were political but hey so are mine, I'd guess he was left wing - ish, he also made a couple of vids, sounds pretty normal to me.

Apparently he also stayed in NZ in 2012. Love how NZ media love to give the story some NZ connection.

Its called "The kiwi connection" and it infuriates me.  Its like nothing in the world can be relevant to us all unless the persons uncles cousin once googled going to NZ (or some other *connection*)

And it is not as though there aren't already some NZers on the flight , which already makes it a relevant story to NZ.

For those exorbitant theories you need a motive.

You don't just wake up one day and go on a joyride in air space.

Until such evidence of motive it crashed somewhere.

Could the satellite pings be not from mh?

The fact that the experts are saying that it was more planned than the 911 attacks, show that it wasn't a spur of the moment thing. They say it was very very well planned, and exploited the flaws in the systems. I think that the fact that this plane is still missing shows this.

I liked this response to some of these theories  http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/22529796-post2023.html, mainly "The longer such a sequence of "perfect" executions needed, more unlikely that theory should be".

There's also some very good posts there explaining how the satellite pinging works

Perhaps that's possible, how close would the planes have to fly to look like one point on the radar I wonder. Wouldn't each countries radar have to be front on, possibly runs the risk of being reported by front plane too, I guess the worst case scenario is they could load it up with a hell of a lot of explosives and use it again but they would have to make it appear as though it was another plane, perhaps the same trick would work twice. Perhaps that's why no one has claimed it yet.

I would imagine it would take quite some expertise to get one of those things back in the air again, surely not as simple as ripping the aerials off it and filling it back up with gas and starting it. Lets hope not !

Now TV 1 has done it, they have said that the background of the pilots photo is that Auckland.

Not necessarily... it may be that only at certain times is the geometry right (i.e. 3 or 4 satellites all receive the same ping). So depending on satellite orbits and the aircraft position, there may be periods when they don't have any useful position information.

My understanding is they are only using data of one geostationary satellite, so it doesn't rely on orbits or number of satellites.  Yes it does take time to calculate the position and that's because they cannot get a triangulation off different satellites.

I still contend they have more details on the tracking than they are admitting to.

I still wonder what it was the kiwi saw from the oil rig it which I think lines up with the non seismic event on the sea floor in that exact area.

What "non seismic event on the sea floor"?

I think you can forget that as relevant - it seemed unlikely anyway.  USGS has the event location here:

Now that's actually very good, IMO.
I don't know enough about radar on the SIA flight, but I guess it's only in the nose and with a big blind area to the rear (what's behind you isn't important). Nav lights off, transponder off, secondary radar off, ACARS off, tuck in close with care to stay away from the wash, and sit there for a few hours.  Perfect.
I wonder if he could have had a cellular device connection to "flightradar", to confirm schedule/position of the SIA flight, as if it was a few minutes late, then he'd have otherwise had only visual - looking for nav lights - and there's a lot of sky out there would have been a problem.
(edit to that - there's probably an ADS-B receiver on the 777 cockpit displays anyway - and which doesn't need two-way connection - just line of sight to the other plane)

joker97: But why?

Intriguing - no?
If you have the answer to that, then you can probably find the plane (barring pilot suicide - which I don't *believe any more)

*I've changed my own mind about a dozen times already, so I could easily change it again.

This is certainly a possibility IMO. We do know that it was very well planned and explains the odd flight path. This theory is better than any hollywood movie. I personally don't think this was suicide, as you wouldn't do this much planning without some sort of point. They could have just crashed it into the sea along the flightpath if the intention was just the crash the plane, which would have been far easier for the hijacker.
