I suppose the problem is perceived leverage.

ACT in the end is an auto-vote for National, when it comes down to the wire.

NZF is not , so who has the most leverage?
NZF could sit on cross benches and make life difficult but keep ACT/National on C&S life support.

Depends who is better Poker Player, are they bluffing, shall I raise and call it.
Who has made their life on reading peoples faces :-)

Politician yes. To be fair, all of them have scripted responses. Is she a capable Minister of Finance? Arguably that is the KEY Ministry. I try to avoid the PR responses, I am so over a "strong and stable government (which media have counted) so Ive opted out of recent videos clips.

No compensation. The DPM is an ego trip so that the Number 2 and 3 parties are set as Number 2 and 3. Dave and Winston dont want to be labelled No.3. To be fair the No.1 party only achieved a bit more than 1/3 of the national vote. In short, these 3 parties can and will govern. Math 101.

But they are alpha males

Luxon = most power but weak

Peters = less power but super savvy and he holds the cards, i.e. kingmaker

Seymour = smart but also super savvy and he holds the cards, i.e. kingmaker

Say if you compared that to Labour, Greens and Te Pati Maori if they achieved a majority coalition. You won't see these alpha issues. Unsure why that is but I also see that in other forums.

In any case its interesting stuff. Is it good bad or otherwise? No, its democratic, so it's good.

End of the day the people voted for other people to manage New Zealand. But if we are seeing these issues in deciding the governing partnership, what happens when they actually run the country? That "should" not be an issue based on policy negotiations. But ego wise, unsure. NATs have been quick to downgrade NZF and ACT. ACT has often critiqued or criticised NATs. NZF has bagged everyone.

But I will lay $$$ that when the Coalition is eventually announced, it will be smiling faces, the cooperation was so good, yada yada yada.

Make New Zealand Great Again :-)

Rumour has it he gave up his claim to the Prime Ministership (yes!) to get the Minister For Firing Jack Tame position. Shane Jones reprises his Minister for Northland Lolly Scrambles and takes on Minister for Keeping The Serious Fraud Office Away from NZF as well.

I wonder if they will release the full text of the deal? It seems there is a very good public interest argument why it should be. It is, after all, going to form the basis of program of legislation that New Zealanders will be obliged to comply with whether they voted for these parties or not. And it's clearly far more complex than any other agreement made so far.

Surely they will? As you say, people voted for three parties based on promises, and as the resultant coalition will naturally cause some compromises, surely that has to be advised to the people? In detail

ACT really likes Pseudoephedrine, promising to have it on the shelves by flu season.
