Do not buy this book by Sarah Sanders, even if you're out of toilet paper.

Guardian: "Trump told Ex-press secretary Sarah Sanders to 'take one for the team' after Kim Jong-un wink

Donald Trump told Sarah Sanders she would have to “go to North Korea and take one for the team”, after Kim Jong-un winked at the then White House press secretary during a summit in Singapore in June 2018.

“Kim Jong-un hit on you!” a delighted Trump joked, according to Sanders’ new memoir. “He did! He f_cking hit on you!”

Speaking for Myself will be released next Tuesday. The Guardian obtained a copy.

Rather than a tell-all by a former staffer or a burn-all by a hostile family member, the book is a paean to the president by a loyal follower with the subtitle Faith, Freedom and the Fight of Our Lives Inside the Trump White House.

Cleveland,com: Cleveland Ohio artist creates portrait of Donald Trump using thousands of sex toys

Cleveland artist Stephen Manka has created a portrait of President Donald Trump using 2,020 metal sex toys.

The portrait, currently constructed in a studio, measures 12 by 20 feet. Manka launched a Kickstarter fundraiser to raise money for the project, ultimately aiming to create a touring installation that would stop by Washington D.C., Wisconsin and Dallas ahead of the November presidential election, using the hashtag #DildoDon.

In case anyone's interested why the dildos look weird, well weirder than usual, it's because they are rubber molds casts made of metal.

Apparently Cleveland had a large dildo factory... err I mean a large factory making dildos.

Historians won't record 2016 as the fall of US empire.  This empire hasn't toppled (yet), and if an empire seems to topple overnight, it’s certain that the conditions that produced the outcome had been present for a long time.

 

US is unique among the world’s dominant powers of the past 500 years in its repeated failure to achieve military objectives over decades. America’s only unambiguous military victories since WW2 came in the Gulf War 1, a war with the strictly limited objective of expelling Iraq from Kuwait, and in various “police actions” against pathetically small and weak opponents in the Dominican Republic in 1965, Grenada in 1983, and Panama in 1989.

 

Why blame Trump?  Even if you believe Republicans are the problem, the two-party system ensures that Republicans can keep doing what they are doing simply by virtue of being the only viable alternative for voters who can’t see themselves as Democrats.

Why??  Trump didn't cause the fall of the US Empire.

 

Bush, 2004 cut taxes, federal income fell to the lowest level since 1951 (16.3% GDP) as well as wasting my great grandkids treasure, $2.4T Iraq war.

 

Federal debt doubled from 1981 to 2008 (31.7% -> 67.7% GDP) then 101.8% in 2015 post the Great Recession after Obama bailed out his Oligarchic mates on Wall St.

 

Thomas Friedman said it best when he advocated for a third party on the stage of the next presidential debate to look Americans in the eye and say:

 

“These two parties are lying to you. They can’t tell you the truth because they are each trapped in decades of special interests. I am not going to tell you what you want to hear. I am going to tell you what you need to hear if we want to be the world’s leaders, not the new Romans.”

Bill Clinton is the only "recent" POTUS to have reduced debt as % of GDP.

I get what you're saying, and IMO what we're seeing now is "GFC II", the multi-trillion dollar "Trump pump" that dwarfs the GFC response isn't being opposed by Dems - they'd be doing much the same.  As a pessimist, it's only delaying the inevitable and the way it's working once again is concentrating wealth at the top - at the expense of "ordinary working people". Those "ordinary working people" weren't ever going to vote for Bernie, they've been long polarised to reject socialism as "un-American".

 

China already has larger GDP then the US if adjusted for PPP.  It'll now overtake the US in absolute GDP terms much sooner than forecast a couple of years ago.  The typical response is that they're "lying about true GDP" - I doubt that's true. Future China won't need Intel/AMD or Apple, Amazon, or Boeing or Tesla - nor Ivanka to design handbags.  Trump's games on trade negotiation / tit for tat retaliation won't work.  He's destroying long established global alliances, treaties, agreements with a "MAGA" delusion that the US can go it alone - or only with the help of those that are "with us - else they're against us".  Any hope that the US would offer a shield/counter to Chinese hegemony / influence is pretty well gone - he's sh*tting on allies and supporting tyrants.  

 

If you want to start selectively quoting Thomas Freidman, then get up to date.

Here is a sentence I never in a million years thought that I would ever write or read: This November, for the first time in our history, the United States of America may not be able to conduct a free and fair election and, should President Trump be defeated by Joe Biden, have a legitimate and peaceful transfer of power.

 

Because if half the country thinks their votes were not fully counted due to deliberate sabotaging of the U.S. Postal Service by this administration, and if the other half are made to believe by the president that any mail-in vote for Biden was fraudulent, that would not result in just a disputed election — not another Bush v. Gore for the Supreme Court to sort out — that would be the end of American democracy as we know it. It also isn’t hyperbole to say it could sow the seeds of another Civil War.

 

The threat is real.

 

 

Look I'm really sad about Bernie too.  But he's supporting Biden - and your argument that "both sides" are just as bad as each other doesn't wash.

Donald Trump behaves like a mobster and has "a low opinion of all black people", according to the US president's former lawyer Michael Cohen.

 

The allegations come from Cohen's new book, Disloyal: A Memoir, written during his jail term for Trump campaign finance violations, among other crimes.

 

Cohen claims Mr Trump also made racist comments about Nelson Mandela and Hispanics.

 

The White House says Cohen is lying. ...

Looks like no new revelations. I'm not saying Trump isn't a scoundrel, conman, psychopath, narcissist, racist, philanderer, dim-witted boar.

Anyone who knows anything about Trump knows he should be in prison instead of president.

The only "surprise" is he had a low opinion of Mandela. It's obvious now, but I hadn't heard it before.

He lied by making an exaggerated claim that he was "arrested" when he and the UN ambassador were "stopped and briefly detained".

 

Meanwhile, this becomes a Republican "talking point" when Trump has been accused of saying:

 

"Mandela f---ed the whole country up. Now it's a s---hole. F--- Mandela," Cohen claims Trump said. "He was no leader." 

 

Which would be 100% true to form from the blatant racist Trump is - a racist who launched his political career by loudly backing the "birther conspiracy" (with his nasty third wife in full voice)

The mistake wasn't so much doing a bailout - as you said, not doing a bailout would have been much worse. The mistake was not putting every last one of those Wall St. bankers in hard core prison and seizing their assets - including everything in their family trusts - right down to their shorts. Because not doing that sent the message loud and clear - it's all good, do it again if you want, it'll only make you even richer.
