ajobbins:
Why should Key be given the benefit of the doubt over the clearly more reliable sources?

KiwiNZ: Ignoring for a minute the whole the subject matter, what annoys me the most is our election result could well be decided by people that have zero interest in this country, it's people, it's welfare, it's future. They will do a lot of damage and move on when they are bored with their play thing.

You mean Warner Brothers? ; ).

I already have.

The sources have strong reputations for reliability.

The irony is very strong in this thread; I'm amused that I'm a whaleoil blogger :-)

So you can't come up with the proof huh?

Just a bag of wind. What a joke!

Just because you don't want it to be true, doesn't make it any less true. They have proven reliable sources time and time again. Regardless of what you think about them, this is largely undisputed.

This is a bit like disputing that today is Tuesday, and then calling it a bag of wind when I don't feel it necessary to prove you wrong. The claim that Snowden et al have not been proven reliable is frankly just as ridiculous. 4 seconds on Google will return you more proof than you can read in a day.

That fact that every world leader exposed by Snowden to date (Bar JK) has acknowledged Snowden has been correct is more than proof enough.

John Key on the other hand can't seem to remember what he had for breakfast

What is the exact substantive allegation that is in dispute above? I'm aware that Snowden et al say there is substantial data collection on the activities of ordinary (ie; innocent) NZ citizens and the PM says there is not. Beyond that level is there concrete detail Snowden is asserting that the PM contradicts?

It would seem that if Snowden in co say it is, then it is, after all they have spotless credentials.

At this point, it seems nothing more than John Key's word against Snowden's.

My own opinion is that Snowden is far more reliable and trustworthy than Key, for a variety of reasons, primarily lack of vested interest and a track record of being correct.

Not so. But as I said in the previous post, it's just guys 'word' against each other....and John Key is the less reliable of the two.

Doesn't make the allegations correct, but it doesn't make them incorrect either.
