I read JA left the meeting, did not stop to talk, did not look, just left. Maybe she sees its going National? Speculation of course. Given that he is leaving Greens at the gate, excluding them (even though they carry the same power) so Im thinking National/NZF now. Crossbench second option.  Labour long odds.

However it will be more entertaining with National!

MikeB4:

Arrgghh Winston Peters on the TV over the last few days is getting increasingly arrogant and pompous. I so wish the Green Party would completely rain on his parade and go in coalition with National.

The arrogance is a bit of a blue thing, born to rule kind of thing. But yes, Nats would find a few more green things to keep Greens happy and productive, rather than dealing with Winston for 3 years. Greens could find themselves out of favour with Labour, but they need to say we are not red or blue, we are Green

It has been reported that at the start of negotiations Peter insisted that communications only come from him and on recollection that seems to be largely the case. National and Labour has lost a lot of mana in this process

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

I have said all along that if Greens truly want to implement any of their Green type policies, only National will give them that. I would think Winston, Labour and the Greens would be a total disaster and only last months. Not saying National and Winston will be smooth sailing.

My preference is for a National Greens coalition so Winston can go suck eggs!! He isnt a nice person in private.

I am utterly fed up with Winston Peters. He is an absolute jerk, rude, arrogant, demeaning of the press, who are only trying to do their job. I so wish Jacinda had pulled the rug from under him by deciding to go into opposition at the beginning. There is something wrong with our political system that a blowhard like Peters can hold the entire country to ransom while he performs his stupid dance. It does not speak highly of either Labour or National that they put up with this overblown egomaniac's crap. He should have been put out to pasture long ago.

I sort of agree for different reasons maybe. ECO policies are far more compatible with Labour and NZF than National. By a large margin. But, they may feel that giving Greens a good set of goals to play with is easier than managing Peters. Winston and national is a disaster, it would be easier going on Labour/Greens IMO. My reoasn is that there are a lot of clashed persanalities with National and very few with Labour Greens

Any party going into coalition with Winston Peters must remember, There is no act of treachery or meanness of which a political party is not capable; for in politics there is no honour.

Yes. And they who act in best interests of managing it will still be here to compete in 3 years time. Should WP play up, NZF will be permanent history

I really hope he goes with Labour. He deserves to be in with the Greens.

I ended up voting left this time, and right now I want the left to go into opposition. Winston is just taking the piss, they all knew they had to have a bloody meeting they should be here. We are paying them to be here and not wasting our time.

I have a bit of a chuckle now and then when Winston is doing is usual, but I think we've all had enough now buddy.

If I was Jacinda I would just say "no thanks mate" and leave them to it.

I was thinking the same thing, how did they not know they would have to have a board meeting? That they weren't already available and kept up to date on the ongoing negotiations is inexcusable. I would bet the Green, Labour and National party boards would be available and be getting constant updates on the current negotiating positions for their parties. Surely the boards should be in a position to meet and ratify any agreement as soon as negotiations conclude.

What would be VERY interesting is a Labour/National coilition... IMHO they are actually both very similar, and if they hashed out a trade agreement on their core policies, 80+% of the population would get several things they really wanted and the government could be REALLY strong with Green NZF opposition only.

TBH I really think binding referendums and binding electoral statements (bound to vote what they SAY they will vote) would sort almost all the political shenanigans this country suffers from?

So further delays, this again shows why these arrangements should be done before and election and made public before voting starts so we know what we are voting for. Although they cannot foresee the election result they can say what they would do under various scenarios. This back room crap is thumbing their noses at the voting public.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.
