An interesting look ahead to 2028 and potential candidates, as well as the groundwork some may be doing already.

The gift that goes on giving from the man who doesn't read (and maybe can't).
A while back I heard a teacher talk about Trump. Based on her many years of educational experience it was that persons opinion that Trump had very low reading skills and was basically illiterate. According to her he exhibits all the trade marks of someone who cannot read properly and has to bluff their way through life making people they meet think they know what they're talking about.
Trump never read any of the daily presidential briefings that were prepared for him. Apparently he dismissed them as being unimportant. This supports the teachers observations.

Which gives rise to the interesting question of whether Wharton is a corrupt institution that sells diplomas for big bucks. Apparently Trump's time there was not all that memorable, in spite of his bragging about it.

I always thought this particular strategy was something of a long shot, but let's see what happens.

I didn't realize our leaders had "Open Borders, INFLATION": sounds like they need to visit a hospital ER.
Trump's Christmas message:
"Merry Christmas to all, including Crooked Joe Biden’s ONLY HOPE, Deranged Jack Smith
Included also are World Leaders, both good and bad, but none of which are as evil and "sick" as the THUGS we have inside our Country who, with their Open Borders, INFLATION, Afghanistan Surrender, Green New Scam, High Taxes, No Energy Independence, Woke Military, Russia/Ukraine, Israel/Iran, All Electric Car Lunacy, and so much more, are looking to destroy our once great USA.
MAY THEY ROT IN HELL. AGAIN,
MERRY CHRISTMAS!
How you can you rot in hell twice? Come to that, how can you rot in hell?
Anyway, forget the deranged BS - the clock is ticking and the cell door is beckoning 🤪

Trump is clearly disintegrating. The best hope is that he soon collapses to the point even his sycophants can't make excuses for him any longer.

kingdragonfly: Trump is the squirming spoiled brat at the museum yelling "This is so boring and stupid" while stomping his foot.
+1
An excellent analogy.
I went to Te Papa yesterday to see the Dinosaurs of Patagonia exhibition, with a squirming spoiled brat, and immediately regretted it. An expensive mistake. 😦
(The dinosaurs were fascinating, and much better behaved.)

The Washington Post - Opinion - Blame democracy’s woes on the GOP or ‘tyranny of the minority’?
28 Dec 2023 (extracts)
Liz Cheney’s memoir [ “Oath and Honor: A Memoir and a Warning” ] takes us through the events leading up to the 2020 election, the attempted coup and the investigation that followed. In granular detail, she explains how a maniacal narcissist insistent on retaining power bent weak men and women to his will.
Had Republicans not played along with the “big lie,” not signed a brief attempting to disenfranchise millions of voters, not raised bogus objections to electoral votes, not maintained those bogus objections even after the assault on the Capitol, not acquitted Trump in his second impeachment and not continued to curry favor with him, the nation long ago would have done away with the only president ever to refuse to transfer power peacefully to his successor.
By contrast, Levitsky and Ziblatt [ "Tyranny of the Minority" ] explain that elements designed to prevent mob rule and emergence of an executive despot have become a fortress for a political minority - mostly White, rural and Christian. The essence of democracy, majoritarian rule, is therefore thwarted.
The authors enumerated numerous antidemocratic devices such as the filibuster, the electoral college, the rural-state biased Senate, gerrymandering, lifetime-appointed Supreme Court justices and voting restrictions that have been adopted by the Republican Party. The latter no longer can compete for majority support in an increasingly pluralistic country, so it relies on these devices to stay in power.
