I’ll The outright, blatant hypocrisy of the orange buffoon continues to dismay me.

Not me. Not any more.

He will start WW III and say “not my fault they didn’t pay their dues” whilst holding a bible upside down and then go and cheat at a round of golf.

Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.

One may not expect much from Trump.

Though.
The sheer number of Americans once patriots for democracy, and who considered Regan a peak of a modern Republican.

'Gorbachev! take that wall Down!'

A moment of their triumph.

Its said.
Reagan who knew that the point of getting elected was to govern. And to govern in a democracy is to compromise.
Reagan used to say that he would rather get 80 percent of what he wanted than go over the cliff with his flags flying.

Though he struggled in his last term, with a core of decency, you might say he faded gracefully.
Vs a Trump only getting more vengeful and malignant.

Now Republicans are very happy to trash democracy, taking others with them.
Trump even said constitution needs changing, but one can expect him to ignore it, as he did before.

Those that cloak themselves in Christ, do not seem to have read much about Jesus.
Parable of the Good Samaritan and other things lost on them.
Money changers in the temple, why not have them run the temple.
Jonestownish on a national scale.

Oh come on 🙄 he's trying way too hard here, that's an awfully long bow to draw. Also, this isn't going to get him her endorsement.

I wonder if he's actually scared of her popularity - or maybe getting desperate?

Trump Lawyer Admits Jan. 6 Was "Criminal" in Supreme Court Ballot Ban Hearing:

Late Night with Seth Meyers: A Closer Look,

The Supreme Court heard oral arguments today in a historic case that would decide whether Donald Trump is disqualified from the ballot based on the 14th Amendment's insurrectionist clause.
...
Trump and his legal team seemed well aware of their inherent advantage going into this case.

On Fox News, one of Trump's lawyers, Alina Habba, went out of her way to namecheck Supreme Justice Brett "I like beer" Kavanaugh as someone Trump was counting on to rule in his favor.

"I think it should be a slam dunk in the Supreme Court. I have faith in them. You know, people like Kavanaugh, who the president fought for, who the president went through hell to get into place, he'll step up. Those people will step up."

She's talking about a Supreme Court justice the way a mobster talks about one of his street captains.

"We need someone to take out the Russians." "Don't worry. Kavanaugh will step up. He owes us for the thing with the guy and the thing."

Now, as you may recall, the Colorado Supreme Court ruled that Trump was ineligible for the ballot based on the 14th Amendment's insurrectionist clause, which bars anyone who takes an oath to uphold the Constitution but then engages in insurrection or rebellion against the U.S. from holding state or federal office. The amendment was ratified after the Civil War to bar former Confederates from serving in government, because after the war, Southern states immediately started sending unrepentant traitors back to Congress.

As one historian explained, "They lose in April of 1865, but by December of 1865, they're sending back to Congress people like Alexander Stephens, the former vice president of the Confederacy. It's unbelievable they thought they could do that. They're completely unrepentant and they are used to exercising power."

That sounds like it could be Donald Trump's Tinder bio.

"Completely unrepentant. Used to exercising power. Hates dogs."

So it seems pretty obvious that the language of the 14th amendment would apply to Trump's behavior on and leading up to January 6th, but there are several other key issues being litigated here.

For example, Trump's lawyer Jonathan Mitchell argued that the president is somehow not an officer of the United States as specified in the 14th Amendment, meaning the text doesn't apply to Trump, only to other officers of the government. Justice Sonia Sotomayor pointed out during oral arguments today that this would create a very convenient loophole for Donald Trump.

It is funny to imagine that the drafters of the 14th Amendment somehow specifically exempted Donald Trump, of all people. That would explain why they added a clause saying,

"Any person who engages in insurrection shall be barred from office, unless said person is a boisterous and irksome real estate financier with peculiar physical features and a bizarre obsession with winged creatures slain by a wind-producing apparatus who once hosted a reality competition program on television, or whatever that is."

And then, under questioning from Justice Elena Kagan, Mitchell later seemed to concede that it would be very weird if the drafters of the 14th Amendment had somehow created a super narrow loophole that would allow a former president who engaged in insurrection to avoid being disqualified.

It's not great when, as a lawyer, you just admit in court that your argument is weird.

Trump disses Haley asking where her husband is. Nikki Haley responds:

NBC: “Michael is deployed serving our country, something you know nothing about,” Haley wrote in response to Trump’s comments Saturday. “Someone who continually disrespects the sacrifices of military families has no business being commander in chief.”

Haley adds some more to that, in the article.

If anyone but Trump said this I'd say they were inviting Uncle Vladimir to manipulate the election on their behalf again, but Trump isn't anywhere near that smart.
