Basically insane. I don't see how it could support more than a tiny number of inmates a hundred years after it was built. It barely housed 250 in its heyday.

Newsworthy. Say it long enough and often enough, it becomes true. It could be a modern and larger prison elsewhere, but not newsworthy. Trump should retire from being an idiot and run a PR company.

Alcatraz, its his old age showing.
A sort of nostalgia that works with his older MAGA crowd.
Evangelicals love to throw the first stone, so punishing conditions, next it will be medieval torture.
Hang some gibbets from the walls.

If you look back years ago when he was younger there were the Alcatraz movies, made an impression
1962 Birdman of Alcatraz, 1979 Escape from Alcatraz, The Rock 1996.

Maybe the tourist board rented it out for a memorable fashion model event where he ?
There being no escape for the young teen model ?.

It will after decades of decrepitude cost an absolute fortune to upgrade into operational condition.
Trump probably has a donor who is ready to snap up the contract.

Oh it was closed due to the high cost of running it and pending structural issues.
So one hand Elon closes useful needed Government programs, and another hand Trump wastes money.

Re Shutter Island, I'm not sure if everyone caught my inference. It's a 2010 Leonardo DiCaprio movie that involves a criminal lunatic asylum in an Alcatraz-like setting. I won't reveal the plot but the ending is an OMG 🤪

Specifically the "incredibly dangerous" safety incidents months before latest Newark airport system failure, blamed on decades of underspending.

Also the Trump administration has firing several hundred Federal Aviation Administration employees almost as soon as he took office this year.

Now remind me. Who was president from January 20, 2017 to 2021, and encouraged underspending in airports?
