Biden has done what he no doubt warned Netanyahu many times he was going to do and withheld some heavy offensive ordnance. The war is far from over regardless. Any idea Rafah is the end is clearly just fantasy like the earlier implied claims it would end with Al Shifa. Hamas rejecting proposals multiple times clearly intends to fight on after Rafah and has the capability to do so.

The regional stability continues to slide:

Times of Israel: Iran will have to change its nuclear doctrine if its existence is threatened by Israel, an adviser to Iran’s Supreme Leader, Sayyid Kamal Kharrazi said, raising fresh concerns about an Iranian nuclear weapon.

“We have no decision to build a nuclear bomb, but should Iran’s existence be threatened, there will be no choice but to change our military doctrine,”

Translated, "if you decide to murder someone I may think about not handing you the knife".  I'm sure Netanyahu is quaking in his boots.

It's more like "I'll hold on to the knife until nobody is looking and then I'll give it to you along with several larger ones".

Israelis speak about conditions in detention camps:

CNN: All spoke out at risk of legal repercussions and reprisals from groups supportive of Israel’s hardline policies in Gaza.

They paint a picture of a facility where doctors sometimes amputated prisoners’ limbs due to injuries sustained from constant handcuffing; of medical procedures sometimes performed by underqualified medics earning it a reputation for being “a paradise for interns”; and where the air is filled with the smell of neglected wounds left to rot.

So much for Netanyahu's claim to be defending civilized values against random brutality.

I read somewhere a little while ago that the head of pediatrics from one of the largest Gaza hospitals, Al Shifa I think, had died in an Israeli prison after being taken from the hospital during the Israeli attack on Gaza City.

No reason given of course.

Adnan Al-Bursh head of orthopedics:

CNN: The death of the 50-year-old was “heartbreaking news for everyone, for his family, the medical staff at Al-Shifa Hospital, and for Dr. Adnan’s patients,” the director of Al-Shifa Hospital, Dr. Marwan Abu Saada, told CNN. “This is the last thing we expected, and it’s difficult for the human soul to bear this news,” he said. “Dr. Adnan loved life, was cheerful, and was loved by everyone.”

In the article linked above this one a medic discusses his own experience as a detainee.

at this point, it is pretty clear that both states and (a proportion of) their citizens are terrorists

but as long as the US supports the big brother (note this war has been going on for 6000 years between blood brothers and non blood relations) it keeps going. also if Trump gets in power we would have WW3 ...

Surely these sort of accidents aren't common with other modern armies are they? According to the article 15% of the IDF casualties weren't caused by Hamas.

Yes, the 2024 election is going to determine whether we have another War to End All Wars, that's for sure. The Israeli government are terrorists, Hamas are terrorists, the Russian government are terrorists, and Trump is a wannabe dictator who will back terrorists.

Which was unoccupied, the Japanese having withdrawn two weeks earlier.
