It's fairly self explanatory. Perhaps you should go and read it again and understand the difference between past and present tense
Good idea.
This is one of the worst parliaments in my life time. The general level of competence on both sides of the house is incredibly low.
Seems quite present tense to me
But do as you do regularly here, get argumentative.
Are any of the politicians I mentioned still government ministers? Most of them are no longer in the house and none are standing in this election. The talent in this parliament has been abject. The talent in the last decade, on the National side, has not.
In your haste to get offended you've missed the point.

Haste to get offended? LOL, yep if you wish to say so thats ok by me.Your usual style with people here. We are talking about this election, what the current parties have to offer. If you want to go off tangent and bring in past MP's, thats fine, just bring that comparison up in the post I quoted, not one you decided to add later.
As you say, past and present.

You said there hasn't been any talent in the house for the last decade but sure it's me bringing this up. Ok. Right.

Twisting words a tad.
I said "Yes it is low, its been low for well over a decade, if you consider sitting on the hands is not great shakes either. "
And?
Is it ok to sit on hands, reduce spending in eduction, health and infrastructure. Then praise the obvious surplus? They had choices, but chose to starve those sectors. Is that talent? How has housing affordability gone? How has the social housing stock gone? How is traffic congestion, or is that just since 2017?
Is that talent? If the grass is pretty brown on this side, it wasn't any greener on that other side. That's not a fact its my opinion, everyone can vote for who they feel will try to make a difference, or what was the status quo. No issue either way from me

ROFL.

One is policy, the other is the ability to execute policy. One without the other is worthless.
You can disagree with Nationals policy but they did largely execute it. Projects like UFB, the Waterview tunnel and Puhoi tunnel got done.
Similarly the Clark government was really quite talented at executing their policy. Kiwisaver and Kiwibank got started and executed.
Well Collins has done the cup of tea with ACT in Epson.
If only Labour and the Greens properly embraced politics and either pulled their candidates from the tseat or directed their voters in Epson to vote for Paul Goldsmith.
If they did last election then ACT would have been out.
National has promised to crack down on gangs. That's the lamest thing I have heard in politics for years. Why would National crack down on gangs now? Because they were soft on gangs for so long?
Law, order and a well managed economy are the only things they can come up with? In these times?
We need more vision than that.
Most of the posters in this thread are just like chimpanzees on MDMA, full of feelings of bonhomie, joy, and optimism. Fred99 8/4/21

There was mention of two more National Parks. I'm unsure if thats a good idea or not, I assume its quite good? Not really groundbreaking though (subtle pun there)

I believe they mentioned a few roads too...

Personally I prefer other types of reserve, because they are less restrictive than national parks. For example in a forest park, you can get a permit to take a dog and it's less drama for DoC to develop infrastructure like huts and tracks.
So changing from forest park to national park, from my perspective is unfavourable. Buying up land and making a new national park would be awesome.
Something we do quite poorly in NZ I think is providing access into National parks. Unless you are fit and active (or can afford a helicopter) you are out of luck.

According to a new poll, Labour is on 52%, National 28%, ACT is on 5.9% (their best showing since 2003). The Greens are on 5.4% and NZ First 5.1% respectively.
This was all before the most recent lockdown though.
I am just staggered at how all over the place National is at the moment.
I've been happy to vote for them on occasion on the basis that they seemed like a firm hand on the tiller and had better representation of working professionals in their ranks when compared to others, but honestly I'm not even sure they're competent enough to run the National Party at the moment, let alone the country.
