It is clear by he attempts by Trump to derail Tillersons efforts to resolve the NK situation that Trump does not want a diplomatic solution he has decided on War and he is also lining up his next target namely Iran.

I would like to think NK will come round and start talking to someone..even Germany or France...but I don't believe it will happen. As ugly as Trump is, I think war is going to happen and it will be probably be large and quick.

Tillerson is at least trying, and for Trump to publicly derail his attempts is disgusting. Not sure how Tillerson can stay in the job now. Also looks like Britain is in the market for a new Foreign Secretary.

One or two more tweets like this - and Trump's presidency becomes untenable.

Trump fires back...

In my experience both professional and private is intransigence leads nowhere compromise leads to agreement. Right now there is very little difference between North Korea's and the US attitudes and actions in this dispute. The intransigence displayed  by both will lead to a very costly impasse in which no one wins.

While both are not budging, there is a difference. One nation is the provoker, the breaker of rules all along. The other, i.e. UN, US and other nations that raise concerns over NK are reactionary

Again, what issues can be in talks and compromised on to a mutual agreement?

The West has issues with nuclear armament, provocative and dangerous missile and nuclear tests.

NK has issue as the US is about to attack, apparently. They want to be a nuclear nation. They don't want regime change. They want to be recognised as a nation and involved in world affairs.. They want economic aid (when hell freezes over). They want the US out of the region

So, what mutually agreeable matters above can be achieved?

Really, who has used them? who individually has the biggest stock pile? who has tested them outside their backyard? who has risked the wellbeing of the South Pacific with testing?

The US is not innocent in fact they have been the provocateur in Asia, Middle East and Europe. The UN should be addressing the US foreign policy and dangerous military posturing.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

Yes, that was the past nuclear issues, that also USSR was involved in.  There is so much anti US sentiment here, Nk takes aback seat.

So, you are suggesting that we allow and accept NK as a nuclear power? And based on the fact that the US actively being one in the distant past? I'm talking now, and I'm talking NK.

Military posturing? I assume that's the US fault for always starting any posturing, and that poor NK is the innocent bystander, as the US is forcing this issue, and NK is only reacting? If Nk fires missiles and test nuclear as it does, its tough bikkies if a show of force is not allowed back. Its njo0 wonder he can do what he likes with whoever he likes whenever he likes, because he is allowed to walk over everyone and everything, he is not required to be accountable. And we wonder why we are here today. No one brings up their kids like this

If you look back over my posts I have been consistent that both are to blame for this stupidity. Neither has the moral high ground. Since coming to power Trump has been issuing threats to numerous nations. The muppet needs to back off and play with his Lego and allow the gown ups to negotiate a mutually acceptable outcome, that include KJU.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

I want to know what issues either side will want for this mutually acceptable outcome but no-one will say. That tells me that what either side wants is unachievable. And remember that this is far from just a US issue.  Yes, Trump is an idiot, and is older than 10 months since Trump joined his circus on Jan 20, and predates Trump by decades

I agree with you, they wont. They will drop that into the US, who will maintain targeted nuclear warheads at NK, as will NK at the US, like the old days. At least in the old days, the USSR and USA leaders weren't stupid. And before anyone brings up Trump, we all know he will be gone by Nov 2020 at latest, but KJU will always be there. Its safer now

A point that seems to get overlooked is that talks have intrinsic value even if they don't go anywhere. They buy time. As long as people are talking, they aren't fighting. NK won't always stay the same. I have a feeling (just that, admittedly) that this Kim won't last as long as his predecessors did. Just looking at him, he could easily have an early heart attack. Anything can happen. The longer they can be kept talking, the greater the chance that something will.

If Trump exercises his itchy trigger-finger against Iran - that's effectively signalling the end of the USA's trustworthiness as a partner in all treaties.

In sane world, that would be true. But US politics are far from sane. And Michael Moore, who predicted Trump's election victory, is also predicting his re-election.

Current polls in the USA has Trumps approval rating at over 50% he is currently odds on for winning in 2020.
