Oho.

https://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/politics/act-partys-election-spending-bid-to-block-nz-first-and-how-labour-outspent-national/6LKMXTYD35BHFNQ2QKFP3AF6X4/

Interesting. ACT should be surprising but they're pretty often one of the top spenders, from memory. Their $ per vote is usually massively more than any other elected party.

If actual spending and political outcomes were as tied together as some who push for funding reform would have you believe, we'd be on our seventh straight ACT-led government.

Luxon plays the blame game again. I guess the Labour government was a complete write-off and did nothing good whatsoever, if his comments are accurate.

Also I don't think he should be telling me who to vote for, that's my choice.

One day, peeps will see he is not for NZ, he is for the microphone. Thats a pity as if you are blessed to be in that position, use it, not abuse it

Doesnt matter if you are blue/red/green or grey, he doesnt get it. Although his PR team does

National are not for the environment at all.

Further evidence the NAFT government doesn’t care about the environment:

"If we want to get things done in this country, we need to slash the red and green tape which is holding our country back," [Simeon Brown] said.

New Zealand last year granted visas to a small number of Ukranians with family already living in NZ. It is not clear to me why there is a holdup doing the same for Palestinians.

Nicola Willis appears to think people cannot cross from Gaza into Egypt. That is incorrect. Small numbers of people regularly cross into Egypt facilitated by the Egyptian government. Foreign Minister Peters has not given any indication of action at this time. Australia has issued visas and has been able to facilitate movement across the same crossing. If we need to ask Australia for assistance then so be it.

Luxon probably needs to intervene urgently on this one to get things moving in the right direction.

Ukrainians are white. Palestinians are Arabs.

This is not a very fair characterisation, we take many refugees who are not white.
As you can see here.

That’s the general quota rather than a special visa.

Islamophobia is still very real in New Zealand. The level of ignorance of the Arab world outside of what a number of stereotypes is extremely high.

There are some monsters in this government.

Paying for tax cuts by not funding insulin pumps and glucose monitors for disabled kids (substack.com)

"TL;DR: Carers and parents of disabled children fear a funding freeze announced this week to help pay for tax cuts will leave those at home with diabetes more vulnerable to ‘Dead in Bed’ syndrome because of the de-funding of new insulin pumps and glucose monitors."

It’s really not an accurate headline IMO. The ministry has run out of money in this years budget so has withdrawn funding rather than this being a funding change.

It’s unclear whether the funding will be reinstated or not but heads should roll at the ministry. It’s unacceptable to withdraw funding like this with zero notice.

And do tax cuts as well? If I had to choose between the two, I'd personally rather the roads get fixed up.
