gzt: Yes, agree. Prior to the election It's been obvious that was coming. This could well be the most fractious phase.

I have no clue how this will play out over the next 3 years. I'm a swing voter, so Im not that invested in any party, although for various reasons, I favour Labour/Greens/Te Pati Maori

I can certainly see the media getting into a frenzy though. For example lets say it all goes ok. There will be issues, obviously as these 3 parties are different. So, normal. But when CL or WP or Dave say something, the media will work overtime. In reality these three leaders will have some issues over the 3 years, goes without saying. Take Dave's Weetbix comment and Luxon's response. Its a powerplay between three likeminded or not likeminded parties, so Weetbix is overstated in the greater scheme of things. They HAVE to work together, but each of them will want to put the alpha male hat on from time to time. It all depends how equal that hat wearing is.

At 27min the best part, Milei of Argentia doing what David Seymour dreams of?

To be fair Winston seems to have a bit of a thing about Government Departments too.

How do they decide though as they both want it? Paper scissors rock? Fight it out? Have they just been playing paper scissors rock for the last weeks?

ACT is bigger, more votes, a partner. NZF is in the wilderness or as now, in play. If Peters was Deputy PM it snubs National's stable partner

I saod a while back its Seymours time, and he has been using it. Mentioning why ACT should provide the Deputy PM and why to the media. Aggravating Luxon who says it should stay in the negotiation room

Like Peters, Seymours has a LOT of power, they both do.

Why can't they just alternate? Act gets first turn, then NZ1st. Did any of the geniuses think of that one?

Just set up an on-call system and generate callouts when they're needed? I like your thinking!

Easy, who will have the least atomic hissy fit if they don't get it will lose.

If it's down to experience then Winston should get it, after all it will be very temporary.

Whoever isn't Deputy PM will be seen as the Number 3 party. Probably better to have given it to Nicola to avoid that scenario. But you cannot just decide that it's a 3 way partnership. But its likely Dave and Winston are fighting over the spoils. Not great. Nor a good welcome home to governing

Nicola is a capable politician. She will not have stepped aside for nothing. I wonder what compensation she has bagged.
