Yeah I looked at that Skype box, but $250 is a lot given I already have Skype on PC, laptop, tablet, and phone. Plus I have a reasonably large lounge and I'd want a zoom lens, which I don't think it has.

Yeah, it's not cheap. A bloke in the office has one so I could always ask him. The OEM Samsung one I use is fairly high res and does a pretty good digital zoom, we're about 3m away from the screen and are pretty much filling the frame with a moderate zoom. The Logitech unit apparently does much the same thing looking at the specs.

FWIW The OEM Samsung unit also enables motion control of the TV which is a totally useless gimmick. :)

The STC2000 (the previous model) says it's for "2012" model TVs, so maybe they don't do one for the 2011 models.

Why not get a store to set one up for you?  I got mine from Noel Leamings - usually they are pretty good at setting up a display if you ask nicely.  I have found mine covers everyone in the room ok, although most people were sitting 3-4 meters away from the TV.  Biggest issue is people on the other end of the connection who have non-HD cameras.

Ability to set it up isn't really an issue, I'm sure it'd take me no time at all. $250 is just a bit of money given we can already Skype. Something will be available on ebay cheap sooner or later, well there already is just not super cheap yet.

My TV Samsung LA55C650 doesn't support cameras and Skype according to my research :(

richms: Hmm, It has an inbuilt camera which I do not want in any TV I buy.

Agreed, i don't ever want a camera in my tv  -- unless there is a physical switch that disables the circuitry.

Software switches are no good.

Do you feel the same way about laptops with inbuilt webcams?

As they generally have a light on them when active, and the computer isnt typically left running or on standby and you can close it, its not so much of an issue. Microphones on the computer are another issue I dont like as well.
