I have a HD projector (720p) with DVI and component inputs. I have a Blueray player and feed the component to the projector and the audio (digital) to my Sony 5+1 amplifier and get great quality pictures and good sound through my built into the media room speakers, as the Blueray outputs HD from the component sockets. While it would be nice to have 1080p, I am very satisfied with the results, both viideo and audio, when playing a Blueray disk, heaps better than upscaled DVDs.

I also have a terestial Freeview (DSE) set top box with HDMI and A/V outputs. Only the HDMI is HD all the other outputs are SD. This seems to be the case with other set top boxes I have looked at the spec sheets of. So I bought a HDMI cable and HDMI to DVI adaptor and the pictures are great. My problem is that if I feed the audio into my amp from the A/V set top box's audio output, the audio is out of sync with the video.

Is there a simple way I can fix this without having to buy a new amp with HDMI pass through?

Does anyone know if there are any set top boxes that do not exhibit this delay in the video?

When the All Blacks win the world cup I would like to hear the cheering in sync.

Cheers Ian

Are there any audio delay options within the freeview box menus?

Make sure you turn off any hdmi processing that might be on your projector? The more processing it has to apply the longer it will take.
