Neither labels bother me. Although I find the former is generally handed out these days as a compliment, whereas the latter can still be used more as a "You're smarter than me, and I find that threatening, so I'm gonna throw a label at you that I think makes me look cooler than you". The truth is that society has now accepted that "Nerds" come from all walks of life, and I don't see the label having the same punch that it once had.
