Hey all,

I have had my laptop, a Samsung Series 9 ultrabook (NP900X3A) for a couple of years now, and I love it - it is the only machine I have found that fits my requirements (16GB RAM, upgradable mSATA, upgradable WiFi) but now my laptop is sad and needs some help.

Background - ever since I got this laptop (I bought it second hand) it has had a problem where the screen would catch of the top right of the base.  At first this was a minor annoyance and I got around it by opening the screen a certain way.  However I recently opened it in a hurry, and now the aluminium (or Duralumin as Saumsung calls it) is bent.

I want to get this fixed, but how?  I thought about vice grips, but don't want it to snap.  I thought about heating it, but there are electronics inside.  Anybody now how, or even better, can actually fix this?

Here are some pics:

I am happy to pay (beer money or even real money) for someones time.  Oh, and it seems the MacBooks are subject to the same:

Strip the laptop, repair chassis, reassemble.

I had a similar thought - I also need a new keyboard and battery, so if its a hassle to fix, I might be better off buying a donor from eBay and putting all my hardware in it.  Less time than stripping down a whole machine, which I have also never done (in a laptop, I have built plenty of desktop machines).

And the question remains - how do I actually repair it?

I'd imagine once you get all the fragile bits away percussive maintenance could work :-P

Cool!  Shall I remove the battery and SSD?  I don't mind sending it to you.

Is this something that is 'easy' to do, or quite difficult given the material?

I will send you a PM.
