I recently visited my parents and talk moved to broadband for some reason - I was horrified to hear how much they currently pay. They are still with Telecom for line rental, but then another company for broadband and at the end of the month these both add up to something around $130 - $140!

- even though they are relatively light users and I believe rarely if ever go over 10Gb.

I immediately suggested they change; they of course have seen the Telstra offerings with I must admit look quite good. Long term though I think they'll probably be better off either Telecom or Vodafone - I've heard a few stories about Telstra helpdesk and long prcessing times getting people connected; but the discounts of that first year with Telstra are hard to ignore!!

Is Telecom currently offering anything that might sway them to look at it over telstra? For example is the free Tivo offer still around? Anybody have any thoughts or experiences lately or even alternate suggestions? :)

if they only want 10GB, then Total Home Lite is 10GB of broadband and landline for $85 ($95 if address is classed as rural).

that is already a considerable saving from where they are now.

I believe the free TiVo offer is still around.

Certainly better than where they are, but a little way off the TC deal. Where does one find info on the Tivo deals?

Actually, Total Home Lite now comes with 30GB instead of the old 10GB:

I would say give 123 a call and speak with someone there and see what's on offer.

I am not sure if the free Tivo deal still applies but it may still be on the go. Worth asking about when you ring up.

Try 123 and see how you get along with them (that is assuming your parents have nominated you on their account so you can make account changes on their behalf). Otherwise your parents will need to make the call.

Why don't Telecom advertise that they are doubling broadband allowances from April? Surely this would help in keeping existing customers, and attracting new customers who are torn between several choices?

Anyone from Telecom watching, suggest you advertise this prominently on your front page. Currently no reference to it there.

It will keep our household happy, currently on Total home broadband, so move from 60GB to 120GB for $105 per month.

Clearly states "we will be increasing the data allowance on our total home packages at no additional cost" click to find out more...

Your reply clearly shows that no one knows that Telecom are increasing data allowances, and how difficult it is to find this info.

For the life of me, why would Telecom want to hide this info? Surely this is a no brainer when wanting to attract new customers, or retain existing ones?

Wow that is really strange, keen to get 120GB but it is crazy they aren't advertising this!

They need to update their website plans though. People will miss that link.

They look to have also put the up price of the upgrade from the lite plan, to the adventure plan. On the updated lite plan page page it says it is $20, and on the updated plan page it now says it is $30 to upgrade to that plan.

Just rung telecom to change from Total Home to Lite
My change over is in ten days time have only used 14 gigs of my 60gigs monthly.(END OF MY MONTHLY ACCOUNT)
They wanted to put me on slow speed for the next ten days till my change over. Wow what the heck. So I told them I would ring back on my in ten days. You'd think they would be able to log the change over in their system to take effect on the change over date. Sometimes I wonder ??????

sweet, nothing is better that double the data for same price. :) I was thinking on Saturday to switch to Slingshot, but now meh, I won't bother at all :)

Unfortunately it looks like if I want "at least" 60GB of data, then I can't save any money by dropping down to any of the other plans.

Presumably this is all a reaction to the UFB announcement and/or TCL's new deals.

$85/month for phoneline and 30GB of data is pretty good.

Still no naked broadband, surely they can find a way to monetise VoIP at a better rate?

That moredata page is from when they upgraded Total Home from 40GB to 60GB free. It's atleast six months old.
