This is a telecom big time plan trouble thread

So people should be able to post their troubles with it here without
getting ripped on regardless of wether it's be repeated 1000x or not

I'm noticing much better performance now at all times, YouTube is watchable, browsing isn't slow - not sure what's changed but it is better.

I've noticed Big Time has it's ups and downs. Some weeks, browsing (I have a big family here, and they're basically facebook addicts) facebook and other international sites is slow, other weeks it's fine and dandy.

Admittedly, I have a secret weapon against the packet shapers when it's slow to speed things up, but I'm not going to mention that here because I know doozy is watching :-)

And while my family is busy browsing, I'm downloading stuff at 12mbit/sec, peak or not, so I'm pretty damn happy with Big Time, even if I am employing some sneaky techniques to not completely cirumvent but at least minimise the shaping.

This morning in trying to watch the live stream of the Americas cup racing i got to see how cr%p big time is, impossible to watch more then two second every minute, so I just remote connected into my daughters Vodafone BB plan and the streaming was real good.

Telecom has taken traffic management to the extreme, the marketing was the stuff like P2P at peak times, now at 9 am on a saturday I cannot even watch a live stream that is a multicast. It even seams that Youtube from cache is the only Youtube that is available on big time. Any then when users with "sneaky techniques" can get "12mbit/sec, peak or not" the issue Telecom has is to identify these "sneaky techniques" as it sure sucks the life out of big time for the rest of us.

Hey Guys,

I'm on the big time plan and have been using uTorrent for patch updates for Company of Heroes. For the last week, the speed during 2am - 9am have decreased rapidly. I usually got speed around 200kb/s - 500kbs during 2am - 9am but now it has dropped to 20kb/s.

I am wondering if anyone is having slow torrent speeds during 2am - 9am? Has telecom slowed down torrent speeds?

Just to make sure someone doesn't quote this in future as the absolute truth - Telecom reserves the right to shape or manage any traffic at any time. I understand that at the moment there is either much less, or no shaping during the 2am to 9am periods.

Nice words much less or no shaping, which one is it, that is like says trust me i am a salesman. Then next month it will be 3 am to 8 am and then 4 am to 7 am, Shaping will never work, all Telcom has done is suck people into a concept, and as long as the churn is within a range nothing will happen. I feel sorry for users who think this is what broadband is all about. In looking at the last Telecom financial report where there is no mention about Telecom's Epitero rating. The prevous financial report they where so proud of their number two rating, I guess they have gone down, way down.

Big time just can't seem to get it together, I have to plug in my mobile bb data stick if I want to download even things like drivers yet torrents seem fine.

I can only seem to get about 5kb from places like hp on big time but I get 50-100kb on mobile BB.

Yep i understand the whole shaping thing but it seems that torrents are the only thing that works properly on bigtime but I thought that was the very thing they are trying to limit.
