adx: SPARK: "The transformation is underway to become a digital services company ..."

So they're transforming into something they evidently don't have the capability or capacity to do, like email. Well played Telecom.

Not true.
Telecom dont have the same/as many issues with their paid email services .
Its the 'free' .xtra emails they dont seem to care about & flogged them off 1st to MS/hotmail & then to yahoo.

There have been telecom techs posting (unofficially) about this yahoo issue on this forum , just look at one of the MANY past threads .

:-)

They haven't posted about these most recent onging problems that have been going on for a few months now.

BTW Spark email is down again, and their facebook page is full of people currently having the problems again. Their management really needs to do something about the problems with their Spark email systems, but their management may not be aware of the problems? I would think they would want it fixed before the rebrand, so it doesn't taint the fresh new brand. I would think the last thing they would want is the old associations with the old brand rolling over into the new brand.
The other problem is that each time this happens it clogs up their support system for other issues, as people will immediately phone them, potentially creating an hour plus hold queue, where someone with a broadband connection problem also gets affected.

1/8/14 4.25pm.

OK, Let's check the Telecom status page link on the main site.

This gives:

"Oops. We can't find the page you are looking for."
Techie people call this a '404' error. We just call it embarrassing"

This says it all.................

Tivo upgrades to operate with the new OzTivo EPG, support and service. Over 400 performed here so far. See: www.hillcrest.net.nz

Aaaaargh. I'm trying to accept a purchase order. I can see it, but I can't reply to it.

Perhaps Tele hang on Spark would allow interested (desperate?) users to opt out of their Yahoo-based email, and send via a cut down MTA called smtpactuallyworks.xtra.nz, that definitely IS something a single low powered server could do (going back to my previous suggestion). I'd sign up for that experimental unreliable non-guaranteed (but actually works) service.

People a bit more SOL if they want to opt out of Yahoo for incoming, because off the top of my head I can't think of a way to alter the MX records just for them. I guess just trusting Yahoo's mailserver to be down most of the time and having anything else as a backup would do the trick!

Come on Spark. Your name change could make some sense, if it was followed up by actions (not more trick marketing). At the moment it's more like the sound you might hear coming from a laundry appliance with some unspecified electrical fault: Bzzzt bbbz bbbbzt bbbz BLAM.

Sigh. Yes Spark email is down again. Doesn't appear rebranding has fixed it.

Don't think a sparky will help. But spell their name backwards, and that describes the email service.

seems to be a wider yahoo problem this time round rather than being restricted to Telecom/Yahoo accounts

GEOMAX: is this the official status site?   http://store.spark.co.nz/static/html/service.html
If it is they don't know they have a problem yet.

I see their facebook page has it listed, but not on that status page. They really need to get that looked into.

Looks like they have got the old telecom branding on their too. I would have thought that a  20 million rebrand would have found all the telecom logos to replace.
