I posted this under the Spark section given as the original complainee directed his complaint to his ISP (Spark) but the issue is clearly a Chorus installer smoking drugs before work.

Haha LOL at the door. Why did they even put it in the hallway and not just the garage?!

Even if they didn't use all the cables along the wall and around the doors and drill through the door it still would have been an awful install. Looks like they've installed it right in the hallway or something..

Wow, that is impressively bad!! Should be able to enter that in a worst install competition.

out of all of the things to do wrong here, how did the tech manage to not notice he was drilling all the way through a door...

It appears in the world of Chorus you either get an installation that is a work of art or you get the opposite extreme. Oh well, I'm still waiting for my UFB installation - fingers crossed they won't screw it up.

A new reference standard for an awful install. tongue-out

Perhaps the installer was being paid by the meter of cable used.
The "crazy stuff" theory sounds much more plausible.

Ultrafast did one for us in Tauranga. It was a marvelous job.

One more thing, why would you put the ONT in the hallway??? That low?? Where kids/pets can cause damage to it???

I don't understand why this person wanted their ONT in the hallway. Yes drilling through the door is inexcusable, but the new hybrid cable can only be surface mounted (no capping will be used) so under the circumstances this probably represents the best job possible for the location.

They need to use a different cable then.

When I get UFB, I expect it to be run through the walls like anything else, not over top of them like that.

There are no other cables - and Chorus won't run internally inside walls (and never have done) If you want that I'd suggest you get a sparky in beforehand to drill internally and put draw wires in place because Chorus certainly won't be doing it. Drilling internally carries lots of risks and requires a lot of skill.

The Chorus installer will (should) detail the install with the property owner before they undertake any work.

I point people to this PSA...

Vertical video really bugs me and you see examples on the news where they alter the video to make it look like the sides have been blurred out. Maybe better than black bars but still awful.

That install is OK except for drilling through the door which is pretty amusing.

I still think Apple and Google should place an overlay over any vertical videos saying "filmed by an idiotard" or words to that effect. smile
