I'm on Spark Fibre, just thought id post this here cause last time i called them about routing issues they told me they had no idea what to do or who to escalate to.....

Embarrassing tbh Can anyone explain why I'm going to AU and japan then ping ponging between japan and hk 3 times to finally get to USW then finally across to the Atlantic to get to the EU? Seems I lose out on ~200ms before I even get to USW haha Historically, I'm sure I've just gone straight from NZ to USW or maybe to hawaii then USW, not taking massive detours north east like this then ping ponging around jp/hk. It's been like this for weeks...

Have Southern Cross Cables been under maintenance or damaged for a month or so now?

Anyone else having horrendous routing issues like this? I'm starting to lose it tbh this is ridiculous fam edit: no idea how this formatting works - new lines dont seem to be doing anything

That's strange routing! Unlikely to be the cause in this case, but the (seemingly annual) cut to SeaMeWe 3 has caused a lot of issues with the interwebs around this part of the world.

Assuming your target is 94.23.206.222 (which appears to be french), I just did a trace to that from one of our boxes hosted in Ireland and it appeared to bounce to the UK then to US east coast then back to the UK then to france... 19hops but only 15ms roundtrip.

Well at least it's not just isolated to Spark so that makes me feel a little better - but strange it hasn't been fixed yet. This has been happening for a long time now.

Guess a Global Gateway issue then.. I get some really bad tracert to 162.252.205.157 from Snap too (actually have to extend the maximum hops of tracert..) not to hijack the thread though
