Im trying to setup Plex and Air Video HD so I can access remotely from my house.

First time ive tried on Big Pipe and it keeps telling me I have a double Nat. But ive got PC plugged into modem direct via switch and all wifi off. So how can this be.

Secondly maybe I have to port forward? Is there a guide for this with Big Pipe as modem setup seems different to my last Spark one.

Driving me crazy as never had this issue with 2 Deg or Spark

Doesn't BigPipe use CG-NAT? That might be your problem. If it is, a solution would be to get them to issue you a static IP.

Hi, by default Bigpipe use CGNAT, which means you are sitting behind a NAT within their infrastructure. I understand you can ask for a public staticIP at a one off cost of around $45.

Correct.

Bigpipe are doing NAT, and so is your router = double NAT. If you ask Bigpipe for a static IP address, you will get a public, rather than NAT'd address and all will be fine. It worked fine with Spark because they allocate you a public IP address, not a NAT'd one.

Hi, just a point, if you ask for a Static I think if you read the online notes, you just get a static IP (for one off $45) that is behind the NAT, not a public, which would make sense as public static IPs normally cost a bit more than that.

@cyril7 Static IP is not behind the NAT at all - it is totally static and public.

Seems clear enough to me: "A Static IP address is a singular public IP address that is assigned to you."

bbunnys: Will talk with them and see what they say. If it ends up costing to much ill look else where.

As mentioned already, it will be $45 for a static (public) IP.

I've been on one of their static IP's since last November with no issues. I purchased it specifically to be able to stream Plex outside of my home network. It's worked like a charm, and is definitely worth the one off price. A lot of ISPs charge a monthly fee for public/static IPs instead of a one off. In the long term, the single $45 price is not much at all.

The nice thing about bigpipe static IP is that it's a one off charge. Not like the horrendous monthly charge ISP's used to make back in the day.
