I have a couple of people who are heading to Fiji in a weeks time for work. I know their XT mobiles will work over there, but they are also wanting to use data. They have Sierra Wireless 306's and rather than paying $15/Mb to data roam, it was thinking it would make far more sense for them to get a prepaid SIM on a data plan when over there. They are only there for 2 weeks, but I suspect that whatever they have to pay overthere for a prepaid SIM will be worth it.

Was wondering if anyone has had an experience with this, and which Fijian phone companies SIM should they be getting on arrival (Telestial, Vodafone Fiji, ???). Any other advice? Thanks.

There seems to be two main networks, Vodafone and Digicel. I roamed on both.
Vodafone is the only network with 3G, i believe on the mainland only.

Seemed to be pretty reasonably priced to me. Didnt look at digicel's plans.

Interesting how its much cheaper than NZ (aside from 2deg perhaps)

Yes and no - they're roaming on equipment that is supported by/supplied for the Telecom XT - so really I want to know if the Sierra Wireless devices support the appropriate frequencies used in Fiji, and which Fijian Telco's SIM is required for it (so as to not pay huge data roaming charges). Thanks.
