While browsing the forums you might have noticed some users have a status "Trusted" under the username - and some users may also have a company name:

"Trusted" users are Geekzone members who are recognised by the Geekzone team (Moderators and Administrator) as users whose opinions and knowledge/expertise are generally well regarded by this online community as a whole.

Trusted Users are predominantly not Geekzone staff members (though several are), and are not vetted in any way, other than reputation and personal/professional relationships.

The idea behind the Trusted User scheme is to assist casual observers in deciding whether to lend creedence to the information provided by various users.

The opinion of a Trusted User is still just that - it does not take on any magical properties, and is not necessarily the opinion of Geekzone or its staff.

Conversely, users who do not have the "Trusted" User tag may still be a source of valuable information - they may be new on the site, or simply not have been recognised yet. These things take time...

The company name tag identify those who we know work for a company and our users can trust when dealing with matters regarding that company.

I think this could be highly exploitable!

May I exchange my Trusted tag and get Naughty?

tonyhughes: Being a grumpy troll doesn't exclude you from being trusted

Certainly didn't exclude you Tony (nor forum spamming it seems Innocent).

Thanks for the Trusted tag, oh wise and great BDFL (OWAGBDFL?) - certainly much appreciated.

(does this mean I have to stop lying to people?)
