Following the succesful implementation of a similar editor for our Geekzone Blog, we have released an updated Forum page, with a much better editor - this one should work just fine with Internet Explore and Firefox (tried on Opera 8.5 but it wasn't very happy with that combination).

Enjoy!

IE7 Beta.

Loving the editor, but when I do something that opens a new window (color selection, hyperlinking etc), when I finish what I am doing, I am not returned to the tab i was on, but the last tab in the window (I load around 20 tabs at a time usually, then go and read them all)

The editor loads in the blog and profile... but doesn't seem to on forum posts. I just a larger than normal textbox.

One major problem on the blog editor. In Opera 9.0 - I can't make a new line. Most of the buttons work fine but it doesn't response to Return or Enter.

Guys, you don't know how much I thinking I did before allowing the Colour Palletes to be available to you to play (mess) around with.

Jama, these colours are killing me!

Cokemaster, I know this seems to have some problems with Opera. I only have Opera 8.5 here, I will download the new one soon and test.

Tony, it works fine with IE7 for me, and I load lots of tabs as well.

All in all, much better than the previous functionality.

Opera doesn't like it at all

Edit: I had actually written more than that but it had been cut off for some reason. I can't seem to make new lines at all while in Opera.
Currently in Safari and it hopefully is working.
Is it possible to opt out on a per user basis?

I thought of that when I first read about your problems with Opera. I can add an option to the user profile - will do it later today. Check your user profile page later for this option.

The option is now on your profile page. You can turn it on or off without having to login again, but for now your current session should have it disabled.

Just downloaded Opera 8.53 and it won't work at all. So I suppose Opera 9.0 is a beta version, in which case I wouldn't expect anything to work without problems...

Are you using on a Pocket PC? It won't work, there's no full support for Javascript on those devices. It will only show the old textarea.

Ah, thanks for that - the forums just got usable again.

Does this option also apply for the Blog?

Yes, it's a global option on Geekzone and it controls all use of the editor across the site.

Hey... Just found a nice plugin (in ASP .NET) that actually compresses the javascript file in 80%, so instead of a 130KBytes download it will be much smaller. It should speed up the overall performance when loading the editor.

Enjoy!

Brilliant. I noticed it took a while to load. There is one issue. Occasionally when you press backspace it jumps back the previous page and when you go forward you've lost all the rather large(maybe) post you just wrote. Also there is a bit of lag when typing

I noticed the backspace behaviour once only... As for the lag, I tried it on my tablet PC (1.5GHz Centrino) and on my desktop (3GHz Pentium 4) and it was ok.

I guess it depends what else is loaded on your machine, antivirus (since this is a script), etc...
