Niel: Note that it looks fine on FireFox, but when I had to go to work this afternoon for an emergency I saw it did not work on my PC on IE7. The thing at the bottom of the screen was over the text instead of below it. Anyone else picked this up?

Yeah, I noticed that too Niel, thought it was just my PC or something. This first page:

is a bit of a mess at the bottom as you have described

Other pages are OK though and provide a lot of useful information. Well done to the guys at WxC for collating all of that and putting it together in one place as a handy reference tool

I work for an Australian ISP, who were the first ISP in Aussie to launch NDSL nearly 2 months ago, the provisioning of NDSL aint that hard and nor is porting numbers and this is a country who was not supposed to be able to have ADSL of any kind due to their infrastructor
It's harder to provision NDSL in an appartment block or a business centre due to the MDF amd multiple phone lines, but as for a residential house it aint that hard.

system limitations and constrains lol these are cause by Telecom them selves, they should have upgraded their system years ago when the Government own the company but they choose not to so know we are paying big time for it.
And these arent hate filled posts, these are common fact.
The only reason someone would keep their landline number is if the world knows that number and they have had it for years and years.
Appart from that why keep your landline number and port it over ?
I just signed up for the NDSL with xnet and have no intentions on paying telecom more money for something I don't need :)
I happy to just keep my VoIP numer this way I know that every outbound marketing call centre hasn't got that number so I won't be harrassed by them.

Yes thanks Guys, we had picked this up but needed to get the site up, it required a couple of changes but our web developer has a personal tragedy (my condolences to you and your family Stu) that occured on Friday and we couldn't get the changes rectified in time but will do so shortly, we just wanted to get the Web site up with the info on the day we said it was going to be. We will amend any errors in the near future.

Enough. This is going too far off topic. You were referred to the thread that explained why you had to do what you had to do.

However as you stated, you work at an ISP, so surely you'd know how difficult it is to upgrade or change systems once they are well established. The reality is that until recently, services were bound to phone numbers which NDSL dramatically changes. Look at how Yahoo!Xtra bubble was. The same applies here.

As stated in that thread, WorldXChange are trying to work with Telecom to provide a solution. If we were to believe your post, then this would not be a reality, nor would DSL.

Consider this a warning. Stop trolling and trying to take attention off this new and innovative service.

I'm not trying to take attention off anything, I'm just stating the facts, we all know and have known for donkeys years that telecom didn't want to upgrade their systems and still won't now or in the future, were stuck with the crap telecommnuications they offer us then we look like a 3rd wold country.
Any idiot can see what their trying to do.
The more people who go to NDSL the better. maybe that will FORCE Telescum to do somethinmg about their 3rd world telecommunications equiptment and upgrade it.
But I'm just happy to be getting a service were I don't need telecoms rip off phone prices to make it work.
There's nothing that has changed with their phone service that justifies a price hike from $19.95 many moons ago to $41, if it was a digital service I'd understand it but it's not.

One of the reasons I want to be rid of Telecom completely I didnt request having my number ported and so I have just had a message left on my VFX voicemail this afternoon I will now have Xnet fusion this Wednesday so one very pleased customer here again Phil.

Unexpected, but since we have no contracts and no early termination fees and no connection fees and no up-front payment (first payment almost 2 months after getting connected) I would say it was probably one cost they simply could not cover for us as well. At the end of the day, if you move then you have a lot of other costs as well and then $85 is not that bad.

Wonder if they will catch on to it if you switch from ADSL back to dial-up for a few weeks while you move and then again sign up for ADSL when you are in your new place? You will still have the same e-mail account, since you are simply changing how you are connecting to the Internet. Technically that would not be the same as moving your ADSL connection since you did not have ADSL while you moved.

Then you could risk losing your port on the exchange. Keeping that port could be something that is worth paying the fee.

I would say they would catch onto that one Niel. Just remember one thing though if you change your broadband to dialup you wont have your VFX phoneline as that only works on a broadband connection. But all in all I wouldnt mind paying that fee if I was moving house as I am going to be saving not having a Telecom POTS service anyway. Not only that too Niel if you were on naked DSL and went to dialup you would have to pay Telecom a connection fee for a POTS service again and probably a part charge for the time you had that connection as well so you could use your dialup account

Is there any information out there where Telecom defines what areas are "Urban" and "Rural" ?
If I had to take a guess, I would go with the guideline that Telecom is using with putting dslams into towns with more than 500 phonelines as urban, and less being rural.
